EGR Valve Issue on '07 TL
EGR Valve Issue on '07 TL
So yesterday my TL died on the way to a Christmas party. Luckily I was pulling into a rest area, it ran rough, was slow to accelerate into the parking spot I was pulling into, and then wouldn't turn over once I turned it off. Felt basically like a stall. I had it towed to my local Acura dealership who diagnosed a clogged EGR valve. The tech cleaned it, and Acura recommends replacing. My TL has almost 140,000 on it and to my knowledge I've never had the EGRs touched.
Anyone else had this happen before? Should I get the valves replaced? Stealership quoted me $400

$400 is highway robbery for that. It's very easy to pull the EGR out and clean out any gunked up carbon. Read 2nd thread for more of other's experience.
If it's fine not sure why the valve itself needs to be replaced. it just needs a bit of unclogging now and then....I don't think it needs to be replaced entirely now that the carbon is cleaned out (it can get clogged up after a while)
