ECU kill switch

Looked over the forums, and i couldn't find anything on this. I hate having to pull my negative battery cable off and leave it overnight to reset the ECU. Is is possible to Put a switch between the main power wire to the ECU to be able to control it from inside the vehicle?

Do a search that is NOT how to reset the ECU. 1 there is a ECU fuse you can pull, 2 there is a procedure to reset the ecu with the key and the gas pedal.

get the helms manual- it will have the schematic- then- when you trace the wires,( plug ) ( it will undoubtedly link to the fuse box) CAREFULLY and properly extend it to where you want it positioned with high quality switch ( using a bosch or hella brand 4 prong relay ( same amps as the fuse used in fusebox) than have it rerouted back to ecu. So, the wire ( better to interrupt a critical ground for ecu than hot. ( in my opinion ) then no amperage issue with switch can arise( blowing, burning, melting) Just- negative continuity is interrupted at your command. But you better know what your doing. I made a pig tail fuse pull for my ecu fuse that I pull out ( keychain style ) to help secure....In my 02 accord v6- not same as a kill switch- but functions similarly.

Procedure for resetting ecu doesnt work on 6mt. There is know change. I have to dissconnect the negative battery terminal overnight for a real reset. It makes a hige difference. In power and responsiveness. Thankyou silverbullitt i will try that.

LOL at over night.
I have a 6mt and I disconnect the negative terminal for maybe 2 mins or less.
ECU is reset.

Isn't the throttle response reset bit only useful for Automatics?

I mean; resetting the ECU is resetting the ECU.
while throttle response doesnt get affected nearly as much as an automatic, resetting the ECU still clears codes and such.

and remember OP, it doesnt take all night.
disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. I do it for less than 5 mins.
and my codes are clear and i have to input radio/nav codes.

ECU reset is placebo in my opinion... I accidentally drained my battery by leaving my doors open for a long time while I was installing my USASpec, and when I jumped the battery, I had to put in my radio code. I completely forgot that doing so would "reset the ECU", and the car felt no different than it did before...

Once again pull the ECU fuse in the engine bay to reset the ecu...not worth pulling the neg terminal

Every time I pull my ECU fuse, the fuel trims increase significantly and then taper back down after driving the car around. I read them with a generic ELM327 OBD2 scantool off ebay.

I'll try pulling the fuse, I'm starting to believe my knock sensor may be to culprit. When i reset the ECU the throttle response and power are significantly greater. I think my knock sensor may be reading wrong and changing the timing unnecessarily.
