Drivers auto window won't go up or down
Drivers auto window won't go up or down
I just put in a brand new drivers side window regulator, but now my auto but doesn't work. I can still stick the key in the door lock and and make the window go up and down though.
I also have the KP Technologies auto window roll-up module it worked once to make the windows roll up, but it still works to make the windows go down. That was before I tried the key in door lock.
I jiggled the wires for the auto roll-up module, but that didn't seem to help.
Any help would be appreciated because I've really come to love the KP roll-up module.

Now, it's even more odd. The KP only works once in a while. I think the little splice clips for the the KP module may be coming loose. So, I'm just gonna solder them in.
The more I think about it the KP module simulates the dual key lock not the auto window function. So, I think I actually burnt out my drivers auto switch.

^^^ well I have had issues with my Auto button on the drivers side when my battery is low....i know its crazy weird....
everytime my car needed a jump, after the jump my auto button wont work....i have to hold the button down....but then it starts working again....
that was when I wasnt driving my car enough and the OEM battery was dying every now and then....I havent encountered this issue recently....
I have the KP module as well and I have my connections soldered

Just in case you need to do the reset, here is the procedure from shop manual:
Page 22-224 It is a pretty lengthy process.
1. Turn Ign switch on
2. Move the driver's(passenger's) window all the way down by using the driver's(passenger's)window DOWN switch.
3. Open the driver's(passenger's) door.
NOTE: Steps 4-7 MUST be done within 5 seconds of each other.
4. Turn the ingnition switch OFF.
5. Push and hold the driver's(passenger's) window DOWN switch.
6. Turn the ignition switch ON.
7. Release the driver's(passenger's) window DOWN switch.
8. Repeat steps 4-7 three more times
9. Wait one second.
10. Confirm that AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN do NOT work. If AUTO UP and DOWN work, go back to step 1.
11. Move the driver's(passenger's) window all the way down by using the driver's(passenger's) window DOWN switch.
12. Pull up and hold the driver's(passenger's) window UP switch until the window reaches the fully closed position, then continue to hold the switch for 1 second.
13. Confirm that the power window control unit is reset by using the driver's(passenger's) window AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN function.
If the window still does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure several times, paying close attention to the 5 second time limit between steps. If it still does not work, go to B-Can System Diagnosis Test Mode A(see page 22-108)

hofiveo, I owe you one that solved my auto up/down problem
. I suppose I could of just looked in my service manual myself, but I was feeling lazy.
That saved me from have to buy a new master window switch. Because once you have auto up/down you can never go back.
Thanks again,

I tried doing the those steps several times and it hasn't fixed my problem I'm having w/ my TL.
My passenger manual down and up both work, and so does the auto down. But when I try to do auto up, it goes up a few inches and reverses and goes back down. If I manual the window up half way, stop, and then try to auto up the rest of the way it does the same thing. (goes up a few inches and then reverses and returns to the prior position.) Any takers?

You can try disconnecting your battery for 5-15 minutes. Then reset the windows by holding the UP button at the top for 2 seconds.
Read these bulletins if that doesn't work.

Sorry.... I'm blanking out here, what's a HDS? I've tried holding the up button for 2 secs also, multiple times, but no success. Could it be a safety feature to keep my window from breaking? Obviously the window isn't breaking when I roll it up manually but is there a sensor that could be getting triggered by enough pressure to cause the window to reverse and roll back down?

Have a helper grab the window when you attempt to roll it up and help it along the rest of the way. It'll grab. It did for mine.
Also, check the fuses you never know if one went out. I'd also look into the KPtechnology window roll up module, it allows you to roll up the windows with the key fob while you're walking away. I personally love mine.
One more thing are you turning the key twice to lock it? Because, you have to do it twice to get the windows up?
I remember when I moved from Ponte Vedra Beach to Palm Beach Gardens, I had to put it on a trailer and I had to climb out of the window, and all the uhaul guys thought the window roll up module was the coolest thing they'd ever seen.
