Driver Side Front Wheel is Shot.
This week we had a snow storm here on the east coast. I was pulling into the lot at my job when I lost control and slid into a curb
. The power steering went out temporarily and the wheel wouldn't turn. I was able to drive the car home, but there isn't a whole lot of control and anything over 59 and the car feels like it will fall apart.
I took a look at the actual damage when I got home, after shoveling for 2 hours. I can't really tell if the rim is bent, but it's pretty well gashed. The rear is a little chipped up too. The wheel is pushed in and I'm assuming it's the axle. It also wobbles like crazy. I even notice that whatever damage was done there shifted my bumper under the headlight. I was able to push that back in though.
What I want to know is, before I take it to the shop, how much should I be looking at in repairs? I just want to have a ballpark before they attempt to sodomize me. It's an '05 AT.

take it to the body shop. and remember to shop around.
based on what youve said, i have a feeling the subframe shifted(bent) lower control arm is bent, strut damage, tie rod damage, and possible core support damage.

Although the OP had the bags deploy, it might give you an idea of the cost. Also in the thread, post #25 had a minor impact with a curb, $9000.

Geez! As I read through that thread I puckered a little.
Mine was nowhere near as bad, visually. I also didn't have any deployed airbags. Really hope it's just an axle and not anything near the laundry list he had. I would even settle for an axle and one other thing.
The irony is that I considered getting rid of this car after last winter. Settled on getting some new tires and this winter ends up worse. I've become spoiled after having AWD for the 7-8 yrs before I got the TL. The ability to correct in those vehicles is immeasurable. I just love all of the amenities the TL provides.
