Driver side cv axle won't go in all the way

Thank you for any help. I'm replacing all front suspension and cv axle on the driver side. I'm installing the cv axle but there is still a 1/8" gap in between the the joint housing and the transmission. It went in with a few smacks of the rubber dead blow but I feel it's not in all the way. Am I just paranoid? I slapped some grease on the ring of the input spindle so the ring wouldn't pop off. The brand of axle is gsp from rock auto. Again thanks for any help and happy holidays to you all.

So I took it back out, took the ring off and it goes in the same amount but I see it's stopping at the seal. Is the seal not pressed in far enough. The outer lip is flush with the tranny but the little rubber lip sticks out a little bit and that's where the axle stops...

I doubt a seal would prevent the axle from seating fully into the tranny.
I'd compare the splined stub of the new vs old axle, make sure they're the same length.
Actually, I'd compare every dimension of the axles, verify you received the correct part.

Think their is a manual version and auto version for the drivers side. I gota replace both of mine soon and I was debating between the gsp and Cardone CV's. keep us posted if u figure out what's up.

I had some issues with aftermarket fitment when I replaced my axels. It too the shop two tries before the correct ones were located.

So when I initially installed i put them side by side but didnt pay attention to the input side of the shaft too much. I noticed the oem shaft has a slight bevel that the gsp axle doesnt right after the spline. I dont know if thats what my problem is though. Upon further measuring it seems the new part is 1/8" longer on the input side. When I attempted to remove the axle for comparison with the oem again it was in there pretty good, I'll take a picture with it installed tomorrow sometime. Here's some of the axles.

1)What year is your TL?
2)Is it automatic or manual transmission?
3)What are the left and right GSP axle part #'s RA sent you?

It's an 05 tl with an automatic. The gsp part # ncv36127. Now that I think about it this trans got replaced so it might be from a newer one which would be a gsp ncv21024.

Also noticed the amount of spline after the lock ring is different and the newer tl part seems to be correct looking at the pics from ra

The total splined length is longer on the gsp ( that would account for the 1/8th gap) vs OEM, as you say.

Yeah that's the way it seems but I wanna be sure it's "locking" in or fully seated before i go forward. I really dont wanna assemble and then have to take it all apart again. Like I said it was kinda hard to come back out once I installed it. I'm thinking it's okay but now the spline being different and seeing the part for an 07 tl looks more correct. I'm not sure what to do.

05 TL 3.2V6 automatic Acura OEM part # 44306-SDD-A00; driver side axle ties to GSP NCV36127, the oem part # is there, bottom right, on the RA information page. It fits the 04-06 Base TL
More Information for GSP NCV36127 (rockauto.com)

07-08 TL 3.2 automatic Acura OEM part # 44306-SEP-A10; driver side axle ties to the GSP NCV21024, the oem part # is there, bottom right, on the RA information page. It fits the 07-08 automatic Base TL & Type S.
More Information for GSP NCV21024 (rockauto.com)

When you look at fitment for GSP 36127 it goes from 04-08 TL; therefore, it should fit your 05 driver side or your suspected transplanted tranny.
However, 44306-SEP-A10 is not on GSP 36127 information page at the bottom.
44306SEPA01 is there, maybe the 01 is transposed?

So what I ended up doing was grabbing one from car quest. I took a tape with me and the oem input joint. Everything measured up correctly, kinda funny cause I read cq axles are rebanded gsp, the part number was the same as a gsp but it was a different part. It's in but now I'm doing the pass side seal, lca, and struts but I'm confused about the pass side axle bearing bolts. I had a guy swap the engine and trans and some of the bolts didn't go back in the correct place. It has 3 holes for bolts but only 2 were in there. One had a shoulder on it while the other didn't. Only the one near the joint had a shouldered bolt in it. The upper hole had nothing.is that also supposed to be a shoulder bolt?

ALMOST all the bolts on the car are fully threaded and interchangeable, meaning they can be used in multiple locations;...... except for the 3 that hold the intermediate shaft to the block, as you found out.
IIRC two of those bolts can go in any 3 holes, I believe those are the fully threaded ones?
And the 3rd (shoulder??) can only go in one spot, probably the top since that's the one you're missing.

Yes sir that was how it worked out. Im re-assembling front end right now, still gotta find a used set of wheels to go on it, some p.o.s stole the two front wheels from my driveway while I had em off. Hopefully test drive this weekend and I'll post how everything works out. Thanks again all.
