Disgusting smell when WOT...

So I was driving home tonight and I haven't really opened up the car since I got it so I figured I'd see what it could do. After I downshifted and gunned it a couple of times I noticed a disgusting smell coming from the engine. Anybody know what this could be? Maybe something is in the filter? I don't have any mods done to the engine at all.

Your Sig does not say whether you are a AT. If not, then maybe clutch.

In rare/extreme cases, if it smells like rotten eggs, it could possibly be some defective catalytic converters as well.

its most often from getting `the cat` too hot-
that gets the rotten egg smell,, if it continues you have cooked the cat~
it can and has happened.
Delicate expensive metals are contained inside the cat and it is designed for certain operating temp range and pressure.
Do you think they made them to work at 110 sustained????? I dont~
Other fluids should not get so hot in normal operation as to emit unusual odors.
If your power steering smells funny- have it checked out and replaced immediatly!!!
Your brake fluid should be getting replaced once a year anyway- especially spirited drivers.
If you are just driving along the road ~fast~ in a 6speed, the clutch has no reason to get hot, if you are jamming around treating it like GTA...that will bake a clutch or throw a part of the pressure plate.

Try easing into the throttle instead of jumping WOT- see if a more controlled rate of additional fuel and air is easier for the system to process at the O2 sensors- see if they interpret the readings different, and dont get as much raw fuel dumped in suddenly at low rpm, behind the power/torque band
That could help too

Sometimes there are some chemicals on the surfaces of engines components when they come from the factory. When the engine / exhaust get real hot they burn off and are kind of stinky. This happened on my first WRX I bought new.

Honestly, I've had this exact issue occur to me.

I really suggest changing where you fuel up. Fueling up at different location eliminated the egg smell from my car.

For a just very brief time (a few minutes) after installing my CAI, I got that sulfur smell. Just the very first time I drove it.

Thought it might be the cat and/or add'l exhaust heat, but it has not come back. I now assume it was just something on the CAI (a coating or oils or something from manufacturing) that burned off the first time it got hot.

If the OP is getting this smell on an on-going basis, I'd really consider getting it checked out.

Is this a problem concerning the use of adult diapers?
Or a similar reason that no one wants to carpool with you?,, Oh man he just let another one loose in the car

Thanks for the help guys. I have an AT so obviously it's not the clutch. I figured it was just something burning off or it was because I was just pushing it so hard. Just wanted to make sure it was nothing serious.
