Discolored Mirror!

My driver side mirror is discolored. I dont know why, i guess maybe weather + heated mirror?

There is no way to clean it off because its behind the glass.

So where can i get a new mirror or how can i fix this? Anyone else have this problem?

I want to get this fxed asap, i cant stand looking at it any more.

Yeah the mirror heat button was left pushed in for a long time. Common issue with 3G TLs.

If you have an extended warranty, you should be covered. If not, talk to your service manager. Some dealers have fixed this on goodwill...

I replaced mine recently under warranty. I had to talk to acura warranty dept and explain to them the color faded due to faulty electrical equipment and only after that they agreed to cover it under warranty.

Ok ill check with the dealer. This only happened to the driver side not the passanger side so that makes me think in a defect not a problem with leaving it on too long. The mirror should be able to hold up to the heat probuced by it own heating system.

Anyone know how to take just the glass out of the side mirror? Should I just pull on it like on my old accord?

It's easy, and if you buy the glass at the dealer, have them install it for you.

No, it's a known defect. Plenty of threads on this issue.

Do a search, there are plenty of folks who got it replaced under the OEM warranty. If you're extended warranty is through Acura, I'd think it would apply to this. Take a print out of all the posts on Azine about this problem with you when you go back to the dealer.

I also had this problem with my 05 Acura tl on the passengers side mirror. The dealer stated that the reflective part of the mirror faded and that I need to replace it. I spent 1500 that day and they didn't fix it under "good will".

I have the same issue. The service manager told me it is not covered under certified used warranty. Should I call Acura customer service to try to get this replaced?

I ordered my passenger side one and it's sitting at home waiting to be popped on ($38). These pop on and off, just use a screwdriver and pop it off. make sure you put a rag between the screwdriver and mirror housing so you don't scratch your paint.

My drivers side mirror just started doing this a few weeks ago. The strange thing is that there were no signs of this until it came to a cold weather area. I have used the mirror heater twice for less than 3 min each time. I have a heated garage that never gets below 45 but it does get to -10 outside. I wonder if coming from subzero temps outside to 45 in the garage repeatedly caused it. Either way it's annoying as hell.

05NHB - just sent you a message on this .... wondering how it worked out for you. I have same issue both sides. I'd also venture an opinion FWIW that the heated mirror function has nothing to do with it.

Anyone bought just the glass (not the glass/backing plate combo) from any of the aftermarket suppliers on eBay or elsewhere? Wondering about their quality?

Hit an owl/bird at 70MPH last night. Came flying across the road angled at me and did a glancing blow off the driver's side mirror. Broke the mirror glass, popped the backing place off the actuator (was hanging by the heater wires) and rotated the mirror assembly inward, but nothing else was damaged. No blood, no feathers, nothing. Have no idea what happened to the bird. It was huge, at least 4 ft wing span...
