Hi,

Today I noticed when I was checking my fuses that the dealer installed a 30amp fuse where a 20amp should be, this is for the radio. I asked them and they told me it was ok. I also noticed that they installed a different fuse for the ACC. Should I be concerned about this???

why was the dealer changing fuses?
Go back and speak with the service manager about the problem

When a system/circuit is designed to carry a certain amount of power and exceeds that- the fuse blows to protect everything
If fuse rated too high- a larger surge than allowable may occur= $$$$damage

On my beater truck, a 30 amp is used in the 20 because thats what I had on hand
Unless you beefed up the stereo there is no reason for the correct fuses not to be there!

 

I'd tell them to put in the correct fuses, period, end of story. Unless there is some document from Acura, which I seriously doubt there is, that says they've changed the rating for the fuses in question you should never put in a higher fuse than the circuit is designed for.

If you have had trouble with the fuses blowing for the radio or acc then they are completely out of line by upping the rating of the fuse.

Did you smell smoke when they told you it was OK, if so it was because their pants were on fire.

Or you can go to pep boys and buy the correct fuses, and replace them yourself. But then again, you should probably let them know that it's stupid for them to do something like this. Fuses should only be replaced with the exact number or LOWER only if you have to. Not higher lol.

 

lower amp rating will just blow too early- use the manufacture designated amp fuse only!!!
Go back and speak in person with the Service Manager, and call acura care about it- ask for a rep to call you back 1-800-382-2238 x5
The dealership needs a good shakeup at some level to either not have a simple fuse in stock or to put in a higher fuse and say its ok

If your car should catch fire from that circuit- they bought you a car!!
