Dealer doesn't know about subwoofer rattle

I was at the dealer today so my early-build 2004 could be aligned. I asked for my longstanding subwoofer rattle to be looked at.

To my surprise, after the car was done, I was told to "turn the bass down". I was surprised to hear the refrain I read so often on this site. I mentioned that this was a well-known issue with the car. The service rep told me that he had his tech do a TSB lookup, and none was found, and it couldn't be fixed without taking the entire subwoofer out. WTF? This car's only been out for over a year and a half, I would have thought dealers would be as flooded with complaints as this board is. Apparently not, as the service rep I spoke with behaved as if this were the first time he'd heard about this complaint. I'm not knocking the dealership's service department too much, they have been very good to me otherwise.

Thank goodness for the 3G Garage, I plan to print the four threads addressing the rattle and to provide them to the dealer so that the next TL owner who mentions it can be helped. I'll repair my own, thank you.

Edit: I moved my own thread to "Problems and Fixes".

I too have the subwoofer rattle, will let the dealer look at it, if they dont fix it which i doubt they will, I will have to get it done on my own.

Exactly my point about acura service, check out my thread on why my next car will definitely not be an acura

I also had this annoying subwoofer rattle. Took it into the dealer, and now no more rattle. They said they had to put some foam in the rear deck because the sub was hitting against the seat belt bracket? or something.

I thought there was a TSB for this? I saw a thread about the rear shelf that said TSB 04-043. Did any of you have this done, or is it bogus? I have an appointment next week for this issue, so I'd appreciate some quick replys.

There is, indeed, a TSB on the issue for 2004 TLs, it's linked in the TL Garage. When I pointed this out to the service folken, they said there was none. As I said above, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and the next time I go in I'll carry a copy of the TSB

I have a rattle/buzz in my '05 but it's the cover to my high-mounted stop light that's hitting against the rear window... haven't tried to fix it yet as it doesn't bother me THAT much
