i need help ! My acura dead i cant get it to start i thought it was my altenator went and bought a new one replaced it i also bought a car battery and its still dead. Every light on my dashboard is off doesnt turn or nothing. Wen i turn the switch off the green key light blinks 5 times what should i do replace the starter or what could it be?

Security will only cut off fuel. It will still crank.

Sounds like a key immobilizer issue, since the green key symbol in the dash flashes and there is no ignition.
Try another key if you have one.
You'll need a locksmith or dealer to reprogram the key that's not recognized.

 

Like El_Cheapo wrote, immobilizer would cut fuel pump. Car would still crank and all the "lights" would still work.

Check fuses and make sure that battery cables are in good condition. They like to corrode internally, where it's hard to see, and then it causes all kinds of problems. You need to start somewhere.

 

peter6, people on here keep assuming it's the immobilizer for some reason.


I agree with peter6. Check the fuses, power and ground cables first.

Also, can you communicate with the PCM with a scanner?
