Dead battery after 4 days

What's up AZ,

So I've search the forum and tried to find what I was looking for with no luck. If there is a post out here, please link.

My problem... So this has happened to me about 3-4 times since I've bought my car (2 years ago) and always after coming back from a vacation of 4 days or more. My battery just dies. Battery is new and healthy according to diagnostics. I don't have a sound system and stock head unit. My HandsFreeLink is dead and I have no plans on replacing it. Battery is good to go after the jump and no problems until it sits again.

What would cause this to happen? I just got back from a trip but headed back out in two weeks for a destination wedding, which this problem would most likely happen again. Luckily my car is not the family hauler, so it's not waiting for me in a parking lot at an airport.

Thanks for all the help!

the HFL if still connected can drain the battery. Disconnect it if it is dead

Sounds good! I'll give that a go, it's pretty easy to do. I didn't know it would still be "on" if the car was off.

Thanks again!

well, technically not "on", it's broken and leeching via parasitic draw. a simple disconnect will take care of that problem!

Yep. Mine did that too. Disconnected the HFL and voila, no more dead battery.

Yep, had the same problem killing my battery. Came out one cold morning and noticed all the frost on the windshield around the rear view mirror was gone, but the remainder of the windshield was fully coated. The HIF was the problem. Removed it, no problems, but now need to replace the HIF.

You have to disconnect the HFL. I realized it was my issue one day when my car sat overnight in the winter...the windshield was coated with thick ice except for ONE spot at the top of the windshield where the rear view mirror is, very close to the HFL device.
What's happening is the HFL tries to boot up and gets stuck in a boot loop...much like a bad computer trying to load windows that fails and reboots. The device is also designed to remain on 10 minutes after you turn off the car so you don't disconnect a call when you remove power.
This is just another reason why I am ditching Acura's and buying a Tesla.
