Dead battery???

Went to start my car this morning and nothing is happening when I turn the ignition. Prior to this morning I haven't had issues of any kind in starting my car? Is this the sign of a dead battery?

did the dash even light up at all? you should be able to jump the car. get it down to autozone or advanced auto to get the battery checked...

and then just buy an aftermarket battery... oem Honda/Acura batteries suck... i just had an incident a few months ago with the battery that was just replaced under a year ago...

I've got dash lights and stuff. I took the battery out and had it tested. It's good, so it's something else.

I'm wondering if it's electrical. I had the same thing happen to my car when I still had the OEM battery. It had turned out to be something electrical. Try checking the fuse box in the kick panel below the dash. I can't remember which fuse it was I had taken out and put back in that would allow me to start my car.

You may also want to get your Hands Free Link checked out. They've been known to slowly drain the battery.

My battery is good. That was the first thing that I had checked. I ran it over to the dealership and the test showed it was just fine.

probably loose/corroded battery connections (you can have dash lights with a bad/corroded) connection or a bad starter.

I'd be surprised if it's a starter on an 06, though. A little early for them to fail. There are plenty of 04 starters that have failed....Do a search, discussed many times....

You need to totally remove both cables, clean (soak in baking soda solution) and re-install and re-tighten.

Don't just look and tug at one and say it's good.

I removed both and cleaned the positive that had a small amount on it and re-tightened both. The first thing i looked at were the cables and messed with that before having the battery checked at the dealer. I'll definitely do the baking soda solution just to make sure when I get the car back.

I just got a call from the shop. Shop says the technician went to move my car into a bay from outside where it was sitting and it started right up. Go figure.

Could still be the starter (bad contacts/brushes). When they go bad, it's hit or miss depending on where the starter rotation stops. If it stops on a spot with good contacts, no problem. Otherwise, no start.

Might also be a faulty ignition switch.

Could be corroded/loose cable at the starter.

If it is the starter, the dealer will rape you. It's an easy DIY for less than $100 with core. There's a DIY or two posted here in the forum. Hardest part is getting the battery tray bolt removed....

Ok, so the same thing happened again to me this morning. I figured out what the problem is. I had the e-brake engaged b/c I left my vehicle parked at the top of the drive and it has an incline at the top. Why would the e-brake keep my car from wanting to do anything when i turn the key to start it? As soon as I disengaged the e-brake it started right up.

Would you happen to know where the switch is located?

At the base of the P-brake lever. You have to remove the rear section of the center console. There are DIYs for removing the rear center console in the Service Department.
