Its now a major eye sore and i am going to buy a dash mat.. Does anyone know if a vendor here sells dash mats and what did you think of the quality and the look of it?? I have a the gray interior and was thinking about a black one?? Can someone post some pics of the look?? I really appreciate it!!

Not sure what color you have, but I would check out some suede ones by dash designs. I got one a few weeks ago. Took about a week to really grow on me, but I love it now.

My mom has an 04 and her dash cracked. I got her the Dash Topper brand in the black Sedona suede. Fitment and quality are great. If it happens to mine, I'll definitely go the same route

Unfortunately my baby is in the shop right now getting some serious trans work done.

When she gets back, I'll post some pics. It looks pretty awesome in my opinion, and I have no regrets on it.

I would bitch and internet bash Acura like crazy if my dash cracked at an early age. And I mean that ish better last 10 years minimum! But that cover would be better than a huge expense.

OP, have you tried talking to your local Acura dealer about it? I don't know what your budget is or how much you're willing to pay, but I've read about them SOMETIMES goodwilling a portion of the costs. There's always that route too.

That's why I use 303 Aerospace Protectant, not Armor All.

AWESOME... thanks for the post of the link.. anythings gotta look better them 2 huge cracks.. i think i might be sold on the black suede.. You would think that an 8 year old car wouldnt be having a cracked dash problems esp if u kept it in a garage and always used to a sun visor I may try to find some out there that will listen to my gripe!

My 06 had the same cracks. Dealer agreed to pay half. Cost me about $700 for my part. They have to replace the whole dash.

Just had the dash replaced in an 05 we purchased to replace the girlfriends car which was totaled in a rear-end accident.

Got the dealer to good-will 60% as this will be the 3rd TL I have owned and have serviced at this dealer.

It is quite a lengthy process.

This is what our car looked like a few days ago.

That is why it is sooo expensive and probably why Acura didn't want to admit fault and have to go fix all of these cars with cracked dashes.... I was pretty amazed to see how far they had to tear the car down to get this thing repaired. The tech who was doing the work said the warranty claim allows something like 5 hours to do the repair and it took him 3 just to take everything out.

Should have replaced my cabin filter at the same time regardless of how clean it was but it never even crossed my mind until just now...

Cracked Dash

The cracks I see on this forum appear to be in the same place as mine. I am a 2nd time owner of Acura TL's , my 2004 I only owned for 3 years and 65,000 miles, not long enough to determine much other than it is a very safe car in an accident.
My 2nd Acura the 2005 Acura TL 6spd, has a crack in the same exact place. I am very disappointed in Acura quality of the interior, it has more rattles than any car I have ever owned. Mechanically the car isnt much better. Misfires Pops, cracks on dash board, rattles, poor acceleration. I feel that the cracks I have seen on the internet in the same exact places indicates a design flaw. Poor workmanship and known reliability problems in both the 3rd and 4th Gen cars, think Acura needs to rethink the platform. It reminds me of my Volvo 850R in many ways, just wasn't built to last in my book!

crap!! i am the second owner of my 2007 Acura tl type-s and it has just developed the same exact crack in the same place as of this morning. The car was a CPO and i purchased an Extended bumper to bumper warranty, do you mean to tell me they STILL won't cover this defect?!?

all the shades and garage parking still wont keep vinyl from drying out...
I use Black Magic tire wet (the matte finish one) on all my vinyl and then buff off the excess with a dry towel

got my crack filled in today by shop today. I am using sun shades everyday now and will be using 303 protectant to prevent any more cracks from forming. The guy I used did a good job and told me before I gave him the job that there will be slight scarring regardless. I looked at repair kits online and thought about attempting it but didn't want to make it look worse than it was. I wasn't trying to pay $600-$700 for another dash at the dealer.

Good luck with your dash.. Since i got my first crack 3 months ago. I NOW have 6 .. I always had a sunshade. However i live in SW fla and it gots hot as balls down here. Its not so much the direct sunlight IMO.. its the HEAT that ur car is punished with.. I LAWAYS had my car in a garage and ALWAYS used a sunvisor.. It is what it is.. Im going to a suede dashcover and MOVE ON!!!

Our 05 had the initial crack repaired (by previous owner) and you could see where part of it was still looking good but it apparently it only lasted so long before either growing past the repair or showing through again. Hopefully your repair lasts! It does look like they did a good job! Care to share the price to repair? Others may be interested.

I literally have the EXACT same crack... Looks like the same shape and everything. Is the airbag beneath there in some kind of casing that may expand and crack the dash in the heat? After that crack, I just got another, maybe 2 weeks later!
