Ok here is my story.. ive searched the valve chatter thread and dash nosie thread.. and my problem seems to be slighty different, but of equal annoyance

since the day i got my 08 TL-S (early august) i get this creaking, chattering grinding noise coming from the driver side dash/engine bay (near the master cylnder)

the nosie is very intermittent, and very annoying. It generally only happens when the car is in park. If i turn the climate control on, it angers the noise and makes it louder. I've brought it to Acura three times, but of course, every time i go there it wont repeat the noise... even with me in the car... i pull out of Acura, get home and BAM. its making this noise again....

car seems to be driving fine, but the noise is driving me f*ing crazy... it does it when it wants to, and it does it just about daily.. always in the morning, and usually when i get somewhere, and put the car in park after a drive of atleast 5 miles...

again.. its a chattering, creaking, grinding type of noise.. i cant explain it any bette, and i have no idea what components are located in that area that could be making that noise.. Master cylinders dont make noise.... and like i said, if it is maing the noise, turning on the climate control (heat or a/c) makes the nosie louder and faster....

any input on what it could be?? the car MUST be in park and engine running for the noise to happen If i put the car in gear, the noise dies to a minimum and sometimes stops all together...

second acura with an 'unfixable' problem for me.. the last problem put my car into a cement divider.. i dont want to lose my faith in the TL...

P.S. my 06 5AT NEVER made a noise even remotely close to this sound

 

oh and i have been sitting in my car for an hour with the engine running waiting for my night class to start, and the nosie has been constant the entire time. i could drive to acura right now, pull in.. and the noise would stop... im going CRAZYY

 

Allon, Are you on an incline (in your driveway?) when this occurs? I've known people with similar engine noises (not the TL) but only tends to occur when on a slight incline. I have no idea what this would have to do with anything but it's just a suggestion. Another option I would suggest is leaving her overnight and getting a loaner, hopefully within the next day they will be able to repeat the problem.

Hey, i posted a thread about a problem that im having with my 2008 TL type s, i have 5 AT and im getting this weird sound from the engine when i rev continuously on idle. somebody pointed out that you are having the same problem? the sound is like a cranking sound when you are starting the car, it only happens sometimes so its hard to explain to the dealer...do you happen to know what's causing this? this is suppose to be a PM to you blackura but i dont know if this is the same problem or not, cuz mine does it when im revving it on idle.

 

actually.. i found the problem. and i should just post an FYI to others

my AEM CAI was vibrating against the chassis where the bend goes down towards the air filter... i simply stuck some foam in there, and tighted the vibra-mouth really good.. problem went away
