For CV axle.. Do you have to take control arm off?
I had my buddy's shop replace my axles since they were popping horribly.
Afterwards, went back to shop a couple months later since there was a suspension sound under hard left turn and on slight incline/resistance. (tunk-tunk-tunk sound). Come to find out I have the typical bushings cracking but also the bolt where the castle nut is located on the control arm right under the ball joint, well it broke.. Castle nut still attached. It was barely hanging there when I took the car back in.
So, question for you gurus out there.. Do you HAVE to mess with this to get the CV in and out? I don't want to be accusatory with his mechanic that he could have broke it during axle swap.
Thank you...
Your replies are much appreciated.

Sounds like you're asking about the removal of that castle nut and speration of the lower arm/ balljoint....Yes the nut is removed and the ball joint seperated. Never did an Acura, but on certain cars, rather than seperating the ball joint, I drop the lower control arm where it's attached to the frame. This way I don't need to disturb the BJ, and the alignment is intact, but the TL doesn't have a camber adjustment anyway.
thanks for your reply.. I went to the shop and he showed me how he did the axles without having to touch the ball joint. As far as the nut breaking, looks like someone beforehand dropped it off of a jack/jackstand/etc while the wheel was off.. The only other time the wheels been off was at an NTB when they did my brakes last year. (yeah I know I haven't rotated my tires :P since).. I'm a tad pissed off about it. But I thank you for your reply.
