Cubbies below radio get hot

I recently purchased an 08 TL-S 6 speed with Navi. I noticed without the AC on the cubbies get HOT, almost too hot to touch. I ran the AC the other day and then it was cool. I know the vents to the rear are under there, so I'm sure this is the cause, but dang that's HOT. Has anyone else experienced this and has anyone tried to insulate it at all?

I'm going to check later. But the NAV/Radio gets warm under normal conditions anyway so this isn't surprising.

When I installed my short shifter, I accidentally knocked the insulating grommet that allows the mechanism that routes to the transmission out of place. It sits right next to the heat shield and the path of the exhaust. For a solid few months before I realized what I'd done...my cup holders would get extremely hot too. He's 6MT, there's a chance he has the same issue.

^ The previous owner installed a short throw shifter. But, my cup holders don't get hot, barely even warm. Today it was 68° and raining and the cubbies were still hot to the touch. 0_o

Nope. Trying to find out if anyone has tried to remedy it by insulating the cubbies. As hot as it gets I'm afraid to put my phone in there. I've been looking at pics to determine if there's room to fit insulation. I haven't found any great pictrures to determine that yet so I'll end up opening it up and checking it out.

Soda, you were on driveaccord too, huh?

You could insulate it, but I think it'd be overkill.

Yep! Just sold my 7.5 gen sedan and bought a TL-S. The spacers I bought from you went with the accord.

I'll probably break more stuff taking the panels off than it's worth.
