Cruise Control Problem

For my 04 TL, I have just lost cruise control. The master button, when depressed, lights the dash light but goes out when the button is released. The system is inoperative. Is there a relay in this system that may have gone bad?

The switch in the wheel?
It should stay down a little further when the master light is on than when it is off.

Thanks for the suggestion. You are correct that the button is not staying down like it used to. I will replace that assembly and see what happens.

cruise control button won't stay down in 04 TSX

The same thing just happened to me in my 04 TSX. It definitely feels like a physical problem with the button. Cruise works if I keep the button held down, but that's hardly a solution.

I found the part (36770-SEC-A01) online for $40 but I'd have no idea how to replace it myself. It would hopefully be a quick fix at the dealership.. a half hour of labor? (Piece #3 in the image here: )

Both of you were correct. It was the button. The replacement cost $55.00.
I tried to replace it but was stopped by the extra tight torx bolts on the airbag (has to be taken out to replace the button). Since I don't like to mess around with Airbags, another $60.00 in installation costs took care of it.
Again, thanks for pointing to the switch.

John can you confirm for me how much this repair cost you? The same thing just recently happened to my cruise control switch too! Were the parts and service done by an Acura dealer? I only ask because the two Acura dealers that are near where I live in central NJ are very shady. I have very little trust in everything they say. I have caught them lying a few times in an effort to push up my service costs! I would just like to keep them honest by knowing my facts. I only go to them when I have no other choice. Thanks for your help.

The switch was from the Acura dealer, but since it was an hour away, I had the Honda dealer install it for time efficiency on my part.

Interesting. It doesn't seem like the airbag has to be removed to reach it in my 2004 TSX, but I don't have the right tools for the job. I may just have the dealer replace it. They're taking care of me for another issue.
