Creeking from front end.

Since it's been cold out, I've been noticing that when I'm turning and hitting the gas (around a street corner or pulling into a driveway) I'm hearing what can be described as a creeking from my front end. It usually only happens when it's cold out though. The harder I accelerate the louder the creeking is. Any ideas what this could be?? If there is any problems with the suspension would it be covered under the drivetrain warranty. I have 61K on the car now. It's a 75K on the drivetrain warranty right?

i think i have the same thing too. its cold and snowing where i live and when i drive I hear "cracking" noises. i think its normal. i think that's the sound of the ice in ur car cracking. like in ur windows. cuz even though ur car is solid, it vibrates slightly and those vibrations can be detected when the ice cracks.

Axles.... I've done like 10 of them this winter. For some odd reason the grease inside the outter CV joints, turns into a solid state. This is caused by moisture getting into the CV joint. Its nolonger lubricated right and starts to click.

Some cars need 1, but 90% of them need both sides.

Best way to test this, turn the wheel hard and accelerate from a stop. If you hear a loud creak noise- axles. Its only heard when the temps outside are very low.

It is covered by AcuraCare, the parts are about 180 bux each from what I remember.

There is a thread like this from yesterday. It seems like a common problem for those who live in cold areas. I don't know what type of Packing Grease Acura uses for the CV joint but in my research most are only rated for temps at -5F to -10F.

Once the grease warms up it shouldn't be a problem. Do you notice this after driving for several minutes or only after you start your car? If it is only during the initial start up and drive-off I'd wait til the weather warms up and if your CV joint / axle still creaks then I'd take it in. If you notice this after driving for a while I would definitely get it checked out immediately! Look for a torn boot or signs that grease has come out of the inner/outer boot.

what a coinkydink! I just noticed this too yesterday and coincidentally its been near zero since yesterday...

After a 10 min drive i drove in circles to try to hear it again, but I didn't..

I decided to just wait and see if it still does it when it's not as cold out.

Oh wow! I'm experiencing the same thing since this week has been pretty cold down here! And after the car has warmed up for a bit, the noise is gone.

Yeah I'm in Jersey and I think it's 8 degrees out right now. It does go away after it warms up. I've driven my car when it's cold out and this is the first time I'm experiencing anything like this. I have an 05 6MT. I'd be curious to know if this is just happening w/the 6MT's or the automatics as well. Maybe it has something to do with the LSD?
