Creaking sound?

First post on this forum lol!

Here's my problem. I'm starting to get this creaking sound as I accelerate and/or slow down to a stop. Before I noticed that though; I can hear a metal to metal contact sound when I drive over cracked pavement or uneven pavement. Its subtle at times, or as I speed up faster over the cracked/uneven pavement it more noticeable. There's no metal to metal contact noise when I make turns so I doubt its my axles.

Any thoughts on this or have had similar issues?

Thanks in advance.

Yea, it sounds like one of your cv joints is going bad but likely on the inside not the outside boot. The outside boots are easy to check as you can just feel the boot and feel for a tear or grease behind the tire. Worst case scenario on diagnosing which one is bad is to drive on it and deal with the noise for a few thousand miles. The side that is problemed will wear the tire tread more than the good cv axle.

Word to the wise, don't buy remanufactured! The part from Acura is a lot more $$ but worth it!

So I went to get it checked out and my mechanic said its nothing? He says my CV Boot isn't torn or anything.

He mentioned that the issue is that maybe something needs to be lubricated such as the spline? Not sure what that is.

Any input?

So the metal to metal contact noise is pretty much gone now. It was my shims on my breaks. After getting new brakes pads the noise is gone.

BUT i still have this slight creaking noise when I accelerate and slow down.

Two different mechanics checked and don't seem to find a single issue with it. They said it can't be the CV Axle cause the Boot isn't torn at all.

Ah...

dont' rule out the axle just yet. my CV boots are intact, but i have the classic turning click of a worn CV jt only on cold mornings. i also have vibration through my steering wheel on acceleration at varying speeds. this all became evident after road force balance and new tires last month. have you tried your dealer (assuming you actually like them)?? my dealer guys figured this all out before i told them about the click. i also agree with getting the OEM axles vs aftermarket (you pay for what you get). i'll be getting a new front axle in a couple of weeks if all goes well under warranty thru geico (i only have 50K on an 05 M/T). though i will say i dont' really hear a creak with my bad axle, only the click/clunk and steering wheel vibration. hope this helps rule in or rule out your front end issue. good luck.
