Creaking/cracking sound during accelaration
Creaking/cracking sound during accelaration
For the last couple of months my car has been making a creak like sound, sort of metal on metal sound during the first moment of acceleration in first, second, and third gear. I guess whenever alot of torque is being put on the drivetrain. It also happens during downshifts, or while I just let off the gas and the car starts decelerating. Perhaps I should mention this started happening after I lit up the tires in the rain and I got quite a bit of wheelhop. My first guess was that these were driveshafts making noise, but it doesn't happen while I'm turning like a typical driveshaft ticking noise. So my next guess is that it is a engine mount. I guess I'm hopeing someone reads this and has had a similar issue and can lead me in the right direction. Any input would be appreciated. My car is. 2007 tls with about 50k miles on with a 6 speed if that helps any.
I finally crawled under the car and the only thing that I could find was what looked like a cracked bottom tranny mount. The rubber seems to have cut itself in half, I'm really hoping this solves the creAking issue.
