I just purchased a 2004 TL with 52xxx in factory condition, im suppose to get 20MPG in the city and 28 on the hwy, however im getting 14.8 MPG total regardless if im on the hwy or city. I use premium gas , previous owner used unleaded to midgrade. The air filter is clean, oil change has been done, 4 brand new tires still getting pretty crappy gas milage.

I put in Lucas fuel injector cleaner today and got gas from a BP. Dealer said resetting the ECU will not do anything.... dont know what else I can do. I drive normal not into racing etc.

Any suggestions??

 

when did you get your car?

when i first got my car, my milage sucked too, once you get use to it, you'll get better mpg.

before i was getting aroudn 20 avg, i'm now getting 26-30 avg mixed city and highway.

i didn't do anything but learn how to drive the car properly.

yeah, give it a month or 2, you'll find out how to drive the car, i wasn't used to the gas pedal so i was always flooring it or using too much gas when on the high way.

and teh first month i was playing aroudn a lot

 

^really true. my first week of owning the car i got 13.8mpg now 1 month later im getting 19, still working on it as sometime i still gun it by accident.
