Crank no start/Power probe on fuel pump connector starts
Crank no start/Power probe on fuel pump connector starts
I’m at a loss. I can’t figure this out and wanted to seek help here before towing my 07 Type S to a shop. It all started when on my way home from work I stopped at a store for 5 mins, came back out and started it and it turned off, then started it again and it cranked but immediately started to bog down like it was choking. It did that weird choking thing for a few more times and then hasn’t started since. There’s 12v at the fuel pump, I replaced the fuel pump relay with $75 OEM denso from parts geek. I tried switching the PGM-FI main relay 1 with the one next to it and no change. I hook a power probe up to fuel pump connector and have someone start it and it starts. A couple hours later I try to do the same thing and it hasn’t started since.
I’ve inspected the wires and cleaned all contacts on fuel pump connector, triple checked the fuel pump ground, tried using my original key- no issues there. I turn the key and for whatever reason, the fuel pump does not prime. It has power, but something is stopping it from circulating fuel. Any suggestions or help would be amazing. I will try anything at this point. Thank you in advance!

That was the first thing I did. I replaced the whole fuel pump assembly. Then just to be sure, Replaced the fuel pump module. And each time, pump had 12v but wouldn’t prime and wouldn’t circulate fuel. After that I hired a moble mechanic that was recommended to me from the TL group on Facebook. He had 23yrs of mechanic experience and had the reviews to back it up…. A master mechanic they said. He checked everything that was involved with the fuel pump, even tried bypassing the priming step and hooked up a switch to make the pump circulate. But something wouldn’t let it happen. Please…. Is anyone out there with any ideas? Any other tests I can run? Has anyone had the same problem??
Maybe the fuel pressure regulator is dying. Easy to test with a fuel pressure gage hooked to the rail, should be 55-63psi.
Unfortunately if it is dying, you gotta pull the fuel pump again since it's attached to that unit.
But it def sounds fuel supply related.

The issue at hand is 100% fuel related. I sprayed starter fluid into my intake and started up right away. Anyone else have any ideas? This hasn’t happened to anyone else? Unfortunately I don’t have a fuel pressure gauge and I’m not sure where the sensor is on the fuel pump… could that fuel pressure sensor really cause all these symptoms?

UPDATE- Took it to Acura and they told me what I already knew, signal is not getting to the fuel pump. They recommend I give them $3200 to replace the wire harness floor (32140-SEP-A21)
On the other hand, with a power probe on the fuel pump the car starts. Has anyone installed a fuel pump relay bypass kit on these cars before? Could that work?

PROBLEM FIXED
Cost- $3 junkyard entry fee
Solution- After I got her home from the Acura dealer I started following the fuel pump wiring harness, made it all the way to the front without seeing any issues. I must of missed something. Started from the fuel pump again, but looking even closer, inspected the connector and I saw that one of the pins was a light shade of tan while the rest was silver. Learned how to de pin a connector on YouTube and bam. The feral on one of the wires was burnt where the end of the insulation met the feral, and after removing it from the connector it had a weird green tint to it. So I went to the junk yard, grabbed a new connector and spliced it in. Car started right up.
