Cracked Transmission Casing
Cracked Transmission Casing
So, I was changing my transmission fluid and managed to break off half of the screw area for the drain plug. It was tight from the dealer using an air socket, I assume. Am I screwed and need a new transmission or is it possible to just replace that side of the housing?

Wow that really sucks. You've got like the worse luck ever.
Pretty sure you need to replace the trans case/housing. Which translates to a rebuilt and new housing.
You can go with a use trans but with your luck maybe not.
Maybe you can find a fabracator that is willing to try and tig weld the chunk back on the trans for you if thats even possible but worth a try I guess. If it's possible then you can change the ATF by siphoning/vacuuming it through the dip stick.

You can try using a combo of getting it welded and epoxy to seal the inside and outside of the case. There's also this tape that might be able to help you:
