I'm starting to get paranoid now. I have an 04 with 94K miles on it. I haven't noticed any cracks in my dash yet. I do have really dark tint on my front windows and always park in my garage, shaded area, or use a sun shade.

Oh btw I'm in socal, I've noticed a majority of the people with cracks are from the southeast.

It's so dumb that an expensive/luxury car is having this problem.

SSD it sounds like you are doing the right things to make sure your dash doesn't crack. I can't give you any other advice besides keep doing what you are doing! Preventative maintenance never hurt anyone.

New05TL I bought that up to my Acura dealership when I was there. I told them that my dad's old 1983 GMC truck baked in the sun everyday of it's life and even went through 2 engines and the dash never cracked. Granted I know shit like this happens, no car is perfect, but the manufacturer of a $35k car should realize that there is a problem with their design. Yes they did cover a good percentage of the bill but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Saturday afternoon, driving along and all of a sudden I see a CRACK!?!?!? Right in front of my face. Top of the dash where the perforated part of the dash starts. Absolutely ridiculous considering what I paid new in '04 for an Anthracite/Ebony/Navi with only 12 miles. Now at 6 yrs old and 105k miles I have this crack. Car has always been garaged except for the 9-10 hours my wife has it at work. Arghhhh!!!!

Well, add me to the list. Noticed last week a crack going right along the right side of passenger airbag.

Is this confirmed to only be happening in the South? I live in Colorado, so if so, Phew.

Here is an idea- instead of spending $500 on a dash that might crack again, (IF you get goodwilled) or getting an ugly ass dashcover, go to an upholstery place and see what they can do. My boss got a new ford edge with cloth seats and a faded dash, and instead of replacing the dash, the upholster just put a nice vinyl finish on top. Looked really good. Just an idea.

In case anyone cares, I have a 1991 Integra with 350K miles on it. Over the years, I've used armor all on the dash about once a month. Absolutely no dash cracks or blemishes. The dash looks the same as the day I bought the car 19 years ago, sans the slightly annoying shine. We also have a 07 TL-S (our favorite car) and have been using armor all religiously and no problems, though we spoil our baby. She isn't alowed out in rain or bad weather of any kind. She can only park in the garage and isn't alowed to go to the mall. We use our two Integras for that. We have a 2010 TSX, but that's another story. Total piece of crap. Leaking sunroof, starting problems, defective windshield, defective paint, spoiler almost fell off. Hoping to dump soon after they fix the sunroof (second try).

It moves very quickly. Mine started with one crack on the passenger side and in less than 6 months, I had some reaching from one side of the car to the other.

The 1st crack was on the right side, the 2nd appeared on the left side about 2 weeks later. I'm afraid of what it it'll look like in another few months

2004 TL (85,000 miles) in Central Fl., garaged, 303 used, no sunshade, rest of windows tinted.

No, got it in 2006 w/ 30,00 miles, so from that point on. I've never used a sunshade and cracked dashes have never been an issue. I've owned many cars in the 34 years living in FL. not using a sunshade. This is the first to have this.

The fact that mine started at the airbag tells me that this is an issue with mil in the material used and it's inability to withstand heat extremes associated with the climate such as Florida's. Once a crack starts, it will not stop. So I know that this is only going to get worse. The fact that many others are encountering the very same issue tells me that this isn't isolated to a few cars. I feel that this will become more widespread in the near future. I've also joined the Facebook page started about this issue:

I have a 2005 and mine just started cracking above the instrument panel part where it's perforated. I have an extended warranty but today the dealer told me basically that i'm out of luck since it's trim which is not covered. What do you recommend next? what's the number for Acura corp customer care that people are having success and what do you tell them to get this fixed?

Tell your dealer that you want your case to be sent to Acura Corporate and see how much they are willing to cover for a replacement. They should take pictures, have a written statement from you about the dash, and anything the dealership has about your car, and send all of it to corporate.

Expect to pay around $550. That's what I paid.

This is ridiculous! Having an issue like that with a car that costs over $34K brand new! If I see any crack on my 08 TL-S, I drop it at the dealer and have it fixed for free or I would never buy any Honda/Acura product including lawn mower .
If they don't do it - I will threat with a law suit. BTW, how are you guys on a class-action law suit??? Any progress on that?

This is totally sick that we cannot get it replaced for free and also get Acura's total attention and an apology.
It is definitely a case of bad material being used.

I hope it does not happen next to 06-07's.

Good luck to all of you guys who are having this "crack issue"

Im about to shake up Acura for a good will claim!

^^^ I'm sure the Acura rep says that to everyone that has called, including me. Went to the Acura dealer in Sanford, and less than helpful....
I did the fix, that was on your link BZ and it keeps it from cracking further, but man it doesn't look too good. I have a 99 Frod Expedition with 205k, that sits outside 24/7 and no cracks at all. I've given up with Acura trying to help, it's a waste of time.....

hey guys you should use the sun shade whenever possible. After 30 min of driving touch the dash, it's scorching out. I always try to put the sun shade up even if I'm going to the store for 5 min.

Maybe all you people in Florida/Texas/etc should park in the shade or use a windshield sunshade? I don't think you can blame Acura when you live where it's a hundred degrees and abuse your car by parking in direct sunlight all day long. Sorry but that's the way I see it.
