Cracked Dash 2004. Replace with 2008?

Will a 2008 dash fit a 2004 TL?
I have the chance to buy a replacement from an 08' and was wondering if it would fit.

Acura OEM parts shows that the 77120-SEP-A03ZA instrument panel fits for 04-08 TL. Should work.

How bad is it cracked? I just noticed mine cracking all over. First noticed it cracking around the passenger air bag, now noticed cracking all over. 2004 also.

I don't think so, although now that I think about it, don't think I have ever really heard of an 07/08 with a cracked dash.

While it may be the same part number, the manufacturing methods and materials may have changed/improved.

The point being, it'll swap.

Have you considered buying a dashmat for $40 and just throw it on your dashboard? It'll hide the cracks and save you a lot of money and time.

I read somewhere that there are multiple suppliers of this dashboard and I think that the cracked ones are from a particular batch from a certain supplier. The part number only contains the specifications required to fabricate the part so there can be many suppliers of one part. I'm sure they've revised it somehow to perhaps specify more strict process requirements or material requirements.

If you search the part number here, you can find all of the applications. http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/home.jsp

Why does anyone think Honda did anything to change this part? Is there any evidence of this?

Haha probably not. I work at a manufacturing site. Granted, we manufacture all sorts of medical devices, not cars, so these products are held to much stricter standards. However, we consistently evaluate our suppliers' performance and every part can be traced. I doubt that an auto OEM traces their parts to the same extent, but I also doubt that they don't evaluate their suppliers and work with them to make sure that their parts are defect-free, or just drop the supplier all together if they can't meet the required standards. End users will probably never know about these activities.
