A long crack suddenly appeared on the passenger side of the dash, running down the middle almost completely front-to-back. Ever since this crack has appeared, there is noticeably more passive wind noise in the cabin when the car is parked. It seems strange that a crack in the dash would cause this. Could something else be the cause, like a gap between the windshield and dash? Gap in the ventilation system? The crack is almost touching the windshield defrost vent. I've been having some issues with frost forming on the inside of the windshield since this crack has appeared as well.
For the dashboard itself:
I put stop holes on each end of the crack to stop it from getting bigger. I don't really want to spend the money to replace the dash since this car is way past maintaining its cosmetic appeal. I kept it pristine for 5 years, but this crack + a rogue fastball + a hit and run, has all but ruined its appearance. This has all happened in the past year, no less. Anyway, I don't want to put duct tape over it because it'll look like ass even more, but if there's something I could do to make it look a little nicer I would appreciate it.
It occurred to me that pictures might be helpful. Sometimes it takes a while for the ol' neuron to fire. I was struggling to get the camera to focus properly, so hopefully you can see what's going on.
Here's the crack. Here's the crack close up. Tried to get a look inside the crack.
