As compressor loud

I feel like my air conditioning compressor is loud compared with wife's accord and brother in law's TL S. Is this common or has anyone dealt with this?

If operating properly there souldn't be any noise heard from the compressor.
It may be low on refrigerant so oil isn't circulating.
Have it checked for pressures, then you'll know if low or possibly a bad compressor.

Just yesterday a fellow came in with a 2003 F250 and you could hear the compressor howling. The truck only had 38K miles, so the system was evacuated and only contained .37 lbs of refrigerant. Pulled vacuum, no noticeable drop when sitting for a short time, added dye and I believe it was 2.5lbs of refrigerant and the compressor couldn't be heard running.
No sight of leak using the UV dye, so need to let to truck run for a week and then take a look for signs of a leak.

If it is low, there a problem with the system(leak) as it is a closed system and refrigerant should not need to be added.

That's interesting, is it hard to check the pressure, what do I need, any tips? The ac should have been recharged summer 2013 but then again.... It was supposedly just before I bought the car...

It sounds like a vibrating sound, like the car engine, not a whine or anything, just loud

The ac has been working fine for a year, if leaking, should have stopped being cold.... Which I experienced in a previous car with busted condenser

is this good enough to check the low pressure...and is it even advisable to check the AC pressure? because i could loose some refrigerant when i check.

my AC is nice and cold and has been fine since i bought it last summer, but the compressor just sounds louder (vibrating sound) than other cars, otherwise works fine...should i just leave this alone?

Refrigerant that is lost is minimal, similar to checking tire pressure, but if it's nice and cold, I'd just let it go.
My '08 knock around car has a compressor that is louder than it was when new, but with 175k miles and as the a/c system is operating properly, it will be run it 'til it dies.

Yah I think I should just let it be and get my mechanic to check the pressure before next summer.... I miss the have checked the pressure myself first, but we can't even buy 134a up here in Canada, so no point keeping a Gauge... I shouldn't try to fix something that isn't broken..

Though the compressor whistles/whines when it's on...

See thread... Hope it helps

Not sure if this is what your getting but my compressor was loud like grinding noise ended up being a bad bearing in the ac pulley. Here is my thread with video and the part number for the pulley: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14649966#post14649966
