Common Acura overheating problem.
I posted this in the TL community:

I suspect, but don't know, that this fan relay problem is common to many other models and years.
They had a TSB covering the relay but in a different application.
Failure of this relay can lead to high engine temps in traffic and blown head gaskets.
I am VERY HAPPY I figured this out thanks to the Acurazine forums.
I just want to give back. How would this problem be posted in multiple forums? If I had help from owners of other models I could modify my write up.

I moved this thread from the User Help Forum, where it really shouldn't have been posted but I can understand why you did it, to Car Talk and made it a sticky thread.
Let's see how this works. You haven't received any replies here so we can't do any worse moving it.

Burning Brakes
What type of relay is it; a solid state relay or a mechanical relay?
What is failing. All a relay is a switch. Is it not being switched by a temperature sensor?
