i recently purchased an 04 TL with 58K every time i go to start the car (mostly when cold) the car feels like it sputters. It did it at the dealer but the sales person said it was because the car hasn't been started for a while. 2 months later it still does and took it to acura they said they can't find anything wrong with it. Has anyone had this same proble?

 

Yes, this happens with me as well. If the car is started cold, at idle it sort of runs rough. Stumbles, stutters, etc. Only when cold though. When I brought it in for regular service they didn't notice it, but of course it wasn't started cold. They also claimed to have never heard of the problem.

I would speak directly and in person with the SERVICE MANAGER and have him get the district tech guy involved

You bought a car with a prob and they cant find- what a surprise!

Make sure to leave it the night before so they can test cold- tell them to keep it a few days and have the Manager drive it home, that usually locates problems fast!!

Or it could just need a good Seafoam treatment if its unknown history and sat on the lot a while- carbon makes cars run bad

 

this is normal for all tl's, it is due to the ULEV system trying to reduce emissions while starting.

 

ditto what csmeance said. there's a thread or two burried on this forum about ULEV and cold starts. I try to make sure I turn the AC system off before shutdown or when I start it cold for the day and it doesn't shudder as bad.
