Code Reset for navigation and radio

I have an 08 tl-s and for the past 2 weeks about 5-6 times when i start the car i have to put in the factory code for the navigation. Then yesterday my key and the spare key wouldnt unlock or lock my car... i finally got it unlocked and started the car.. everything had reset.. the clock.. radio.. everything.. i had to put the code back in for the navigation and radio and then it told me that it had to find the GPS again... I have no idea what is going on or why it is doing this. Anyone have any ideas to what could be going on?

I think your battery cables are loose. If they are ok, the battery sounds like it is about to die.

Your battery is going dead I had the same problem, except my car wouldn't start on the first key turn. I replaced my battery and my car starts fine and no longer asks for radio code. It also used to reset my clock and asked for navi code from time to time too.

My car is a 08 with the original 08 Acura battery by the way. It lasted about 3 going on 4 years.

No it doesn't. I hope you're kidding about 'where is the battery'.

Lol. You don't really have to dig in your engine. Open your hood and you will see it plain sight. Bottom right corner.

Give her a break guys! This is a forum where questions get asked and answered. Shouldn't be making someone feel stupid for asking anything. Unless they didn't search and asked something that has been asked 100 times

corrosion at the terminals (clean them), if that doesn't work...then the battery is hinting at going bye bye.

OEM batteries don't last. i've been through two already (the first was at yr 3 and then the second was going poo after 3 yrs and a few months). i went with an aftermarket replacement.

a dying battery can present with a lot of different symptoms. sometimes the car will ask for codes like yours, sometimes the dash and interior lights flicker (mine did this both times), slow turnover when starting (had this too), some of the other electricals might go a little nutty for no reason whatsoever.

have you battery checked at the local auto store or at the dealer. you're probably still under the original 4 yr warranty so they may replace it for free and the next OEM battery may last another 3-4 yrs. acura puts in these 100 mos batteries, that will NEVER last the 100 mos. at most 60 mos if you're lucky.

if the car is still starting then get it over to the dealer for a battery check.

good luck.

either battery is going dead or wires are coming loose.....

go to advance auto parts and get your car checked out.....they check the electrical system for free and will let you know if you need the battery replaced....

Start with the battery first. If it's the original battery, replace it.

Not really-- all I see are a bunch of plastic panels and shrouds. Yes, the battery is under the shroud outlined in red in post 9.

OP: the shrouds are removed by pulling up at the edges or finger holes if provided on some panels.

Someday you'll hate to learn the percentage of non-car people leasing or buying sports cars and sports sedans.

Those of us that know a little more about cars can help those that know less, regardless if they are car people or not.

Also a possibility of corrosion on the terminals, or combination of bad battery, corrosion and loose terminal clamps/ends.

I suggest that you two reevaluate your posts and consider that a new female member asking for help doesn't deserve these types of responses.

I suggest you not be a sexist. I mean how hard is it? Lets use common sense. It says it in writing on the plastic molding if she has the plastic stuff on. My 6 year old cousin (girl) knows where the battery is in my car and most cars. She says "its where the engine is at" and it works for most cars!

This forum is information based. It's that simple. Not everyone is as logical as you. If your going to be an asshole, I'll show you the door. Get it?

EDIT- if you haven't figured it out yet, my biggest pet peeve is when 'veteran' members write condescending and confrontational posts to new members that genuinely need help. We don't need you around here if your going to be like that.

I have no problem with that. Nothing I said in the previous post (before the one I posted directed to you) was offensive in ANYWAY. If anything, you putting "female" in your sentence makes it like I need to give special treatment cause shes a female. Don't want to start anything, but maybe you should reevaluate when you warn members for no reasons. Nothing I said was confrontational. I took it as a surprise that I assumed that most people knew where the battery was and in no way was I was trying to be disrespectful.

OP, bring your car to a Auto Parts store and ask to get your battery check. They'll see if it is still good. They will do all the work.

Apologize by the way if I sounded offensive-- didn't mean too.

damn i didnt know you were a chic....i would have helped out more

but yeah, they (Autozone/Advance Auto Parts) usually do a load and start up test on the battery to determine if its your battery thats causing problems....

also if you wanna buy the battery from AAP (Advance Auto Parts), buy it online and use the code BATX to save 25%....select pick up in store, go to the store and they will install it for free and recycle your old one for you as well....

I got the autocraft gold battery in my girls lexus....going great so far (5-6 monts) and it comes with a 3 year replace warranty and 7 years of prorated warranty....walked out the store paying 80 some bucks (including tax).......

I would have the car checked out at the dealer if you still have warranty; or if you find it easier to replace the battery then do just that. But keep an eye on it; and if problems persist; might wanna read up on HFL units going bad..

I would not completely agree, technically its classified as "sports-luxury", but now we're just nitpicking :-D.
