clunking from 1st to 2nd gear

I have 35k and no warranty on my 04 TL. About 3 weeks ago, a clunking sound started when going from 1st to 2nd gear , but it would only happen when I would start out my day from a cold start.

The clunk isn't extremely loud, but I can feel it on my foot when I accelerate on the pedal.

I tried a search on this, but no one seems to have the same exact thing as I am describing. I don't know much about stuff under the hood, but I have a hunch there is something goin on with the tranny. I have ran into some finance troubles so am trying to troubleshoot this one on my own if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks.

It's sad you're out of warranty w/ only 35k on the odometer. Just as stated above, take it to the stealer. You never know what can happen.

The clunking might be engine mounts?

check your front engine mount. I had the same thing and the tab from the mount that bolts to the motor had snapped off

I experienced this same problem on my 05 TL Auto w/nav. This past wednesday the transmission died while driving. Had to have the car towed to the dealer. The entire transmission needed to be replaced.

I have an appointment with the stealership on Monday. I had someone hold the brake and hit the gas while it was in drive, and the front of the engine raised up quite a bit. However, I don't have any other symptoms of a bad motor mount ie. Vibration at idle, vibration at high speeds, rattling, or oil leaking from any of the mounts. So I will just have to see I guess.

I'm really hoping It's not the same issue that Moonhaze had.

I'll post back when I find out in case any one else runs into the same symptoms as me.
