Several questions about these sounds coming from my 05' TL...

1) So about 6 months ago I noticed a moderate clicking sound coming from my front passenger side when I made sharp turns early in the morning.
I knew that wasn't normal so i had a mechanic take a look. -what do you know the car stopped making the sound when he took it for a test drive. He said the axle and other components seemed fine!

Two more mechanics later, still could not find the issue. At first the sound only occurred when the car was cold. Now it makes the sound at any turn.


2) A few days ago, I noticed a light (thump) when i stepped on the brake... The next day i heard the same thump when i released the brake. The sound seems to also be coming from the passenger front end!

Yesterday after driving about 20 miles home from work, I heard a nasty grinding/cracking sound as i slowed to about (20mph and lower). As I came to a stop it made a cracking/grinding sound. The noise is obviously progressing quickly and could not bear the painful sound anymore and parked.

There is no noise when i accelerate or go over 20MPH

It's not the screeching sound brake pads make to let you know they're worn out.

ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THIS CAN BE?

ALSO, ARE THE TWO (#1 & #2) RELATED IN ANY WAY?

Just my luck that it's sunday and my usual shop is closed!

 

Sounds like you have a bad CV joint and possibly a ball joint. The clunk you mentioned sounds exactly like a bad upper control arm ball joint. My car did the same thing, just changed the entire arm a few weeks ago. Not sure on the grinding sound.
