Clicking sound

Hi I have a 06 Manual trans TL(80000Km or 50000miles) and it makes a single audible click sound when i first start accelerating and then again when i let off the gas. It happens through first and second gear for sure, third is a little hard to hear because or wind/road noise.

It almost happens all the time, and the sound is similar to a loud relay click.

So basically if i am in second gear and let off the gas completely i will hear a loudish click, then i start giving it gas again and i will hear the same click, it wont be heard again until i decelerate or possibly change gears. This is under light throttle as well.

I have tried just revving the motor stationary and the click can not be heard.

Does anyone have a clue of what it might be?

check mounts and cv boots.

Does the click sound low? kind of like a ship's hull creaking? Happens when you're turning or going straight?

Happens straight, Cant see anything in the mounts, they were checked about 6 months ago. I have heard a cv click on my old car and this sounds different as i can only hear a single click. It could definitely be though, it makes sense. Although the click is sometimes delayed by a bit before it happens, like i am decelerating for a second or two and then i hear it.

gotcha. I had a bad passenger side CV and it would click whenever i made a right turn going slow, and it would click several times or as long as my wheel was moving with the wheel turned.

CV boot was torn and leaking small amounts of grease. Replaced it with a GSP axle from advance auto and have not had the problem since.

New to forum. Have 08 TL S-type, 6spd, about 70k. I'm hearing the clicking, too. Clicks when I let off clutch going 1st into 2nd, going straight or turning left. Will not do it if turning right. Also makes sound if you give it a little gas and jump off accelerator. I suspect cv. Otherwise, the car is great.

i had the same problem .. seems like its coming from the driver side.. when i give it gas it clicks... and when im in sport shift mode when i downshift 2-1 it clicks too.. driving me crazy.

i found out all my motor mounts and 1 tranny mount were cracked.. changed that and the problem is still there..

someone told me it maybe the suspension. i did change it so it could be a possibility.
i checked the cv boot and shaft. looks good no problems with the axles either... and yes.. other then this problem the car is great lol

when you guys check your CV boots, do you check in between the folds? sometimes you need to spread it to see the crack. Mine wasnt leaking grease profusely, but you could see grease when you look in between the folds.

Just to add, I tried cranking the wheel full turn both ways and turning under varying power. There were no noises of any kind. I am not going to say it rules out cvs but from ones I have replaced in the past they were usually very evident when doing that. Also the fact that the click comes like a second after I let off the gas doesn't make sense to me. I am putting my summer tires on this weekend so I will inspect the suspension and the shafts then.... Hopefully I can see something.
