Click-Click-Click noise.

Hey guys! I am getting a click-click-click noise from the front end when turning, especially in this cold weather. Only happens when turning. Any one experiencing this or have any thoughts or comments? Thanks!

yes sir, axles/cv boot. How many miles on your TL? I have 100K with no axle issues yet.

I've only got 62K miles. It's auto. Only does it in cold weather, from a stop. If I stop at a sign or a light and then turn onto a crossing street, then click-click-click! Of course, by the time I get it to the dealer, it has warmed up and they can't hear the noise. Thanks, I'll get them replaced.

cv grease is not rated very well in cold temps, somewhere around ~5C so when it's cold it gets hard and doesn't lubricate the joint as well until it warms up. It warms up relatively quickly though so any damage that may be occurring shouldn't be a concern unless it starts clicking at operating temp.

had the same issue (outer CV) but also with steering wheel vibration on acceleration (inner CV).

if you take it to the dealer, have them keep the car overnight then ask them to test drive in the morning (esp. knowing the click only occurs when its cold out). they usually won't do any work until they can confirm the problem.

i had < 50K miles on my TL (6MT). had axles replaced...all fixed.

lots of threads on this type of issue. good luck.

Thanks. It has been unusually cold the last few days here in Indy and unfortunately I have to park outside. The noise is only noticeable for the first mile or so, until it gets warmed up I guess. It must be the grease as said above. I haven't gotten the vibration in the steering wheel yet. Again thanks. It is always good to get feedback and advice from people who "have been there before" and have nothing to gain from it but being helpful!

well if the click just started...you could wait...but the click will most likely go away come spring and summer...then come back when the weather turns. so...it depends how much it bugs the crap out of you. this can stress the rest of the axle and subsequently cause premature wear. mine behaved the exact same way. the dealer had my car overnight for a related issue (wheel balancing) and when they test drove it...they heard the click before i even told them about it. good luck.
