Clank noise from front end when backing up

I am hearing it more often now, not sure what it is. But when I back up, and it doesn't happen all the time, I hear a metal to metal clank from the front end. It's going into the dealer next week for that and other items but wondered if anyone knew about this or knew what it could be?

Car drives fine otherwise. I do get a slight vibration at 70 mph that as many times of balancing my tires have yet to fix it.

I looked at the bushings on the control arms and noticed they are starting to rip, so I am pointing that out to the dealer when it goes in. Doubt that would make the noise though.

My car also is doing something similar, it's like a more high pitched clank, does it when I'm going from reverse through, first, second, and third gear shifts. Also when I let off the gas and then suddenly punch it. I also get this phantom vibration even after balancing my tires. Let me know what it was perhaps I could fix my too. So far I think it's an engine mount...

I am thinking it might be a mount too. But can't really see them well to verify.

See this post (which has a link to another more complete thread) for a procedure to check out your motor mounts:

Does it do it when you hit the brakes in reverse?

No brakes. Just backing up, hitting the gas, and clank.

Now that you mentioned it, mine does clank when im reversing out of a parking spot. Do you think that it could be the pistons in the brakes being stuck?
