misfire. and find better mechanics. Any mechanic worth their weight will have a scanner.

Sounds like a blown head gasket.
I don't pretend to be a mechanical genius, but I'm not certain how any of the sensors would even know that oil and coolant were mixing, unless a significant amount were entering the cylinders and causing misfires.

It's weird because, many times before this even happened I've tried getting a diagnostic and every time, they would tell me the codes wouldn't read smh so now for this to start upsets me.

3/4 evap code
2 EGR valve system codes plus a catalytic code
I gues he explained it this way since I'm a woman and he probably figured I wouldn't understand them anyway

Woof. That's a lot of codes. Lots of emissions based codes which I'm guessing could be triggered by oil and/or coolant in the cylinders. Did the say what they think is wrong? I mean, why coolant and oil are mixing? Head gasket, damaged cylinder head and a damaged block are all possibilities. Did you overheat it recently?

as far as pep boys he was more focused on the gasket just telling me I need a new engine

i apologize if I'm not making any sense but I'm just confused wondering why hasn't these codes come up before the worst possible damage happend,

Now, we're getting somewhere!!
a basic engine requires air, fuel and spark.
the 4 oxygen sensors tell the engine's computer how much fuel to mix in.
I would start there. I would replace the bad 02 sensors with new OEM ones. (if they are indeed bad.)
next, i would inspect the EGR valve to make sure it isn't clogged with debris.
and finally; inspect the catalytic converter to make sure it hasn't failed. (only use 91+ grade of fuel)
if not handy, a mechanic would have to check these things out for you.
(i dont know how pepboys came up with the coolant mixing with oil...perhaps the exhaust is emitting white smoke?)

I haven't seen white smoke when I press the gas but I smell something when I step out of the car.
also I would hope it's as small as the plug or coil that would make my whole week. Now I can speak to a mechanic knowing what I'm talking about. Highly appreciate you.

that's the catalytic converter... the symptoms also fall in line with what the codes are telling us.
if you had said "Sweet smelling", that would indicate coolant.
I'm confident the pepboy didnt know what he was talking about.
you'll need to get with a mechanic to sort out these emissions issues...
the cat is failing and sending wonky info to the 02 sensors.
this could be caused by using bad fuel. be sure to use 91+ grade of fuel.

Etime. Check the oil via the dip stick, if it looks like chocolate milk then you have confirmed coolant is mixing with oil which would most likely be a bad head gasket. I have not heard of many headgasket failures at that milage. Assuming car is well cared for. I'm thinking catilitic failure as someone had posted. You have come to the right place to aid you in getting correct info. I don't trust pepboys as far as I can throw them. Half of the so called techs there are young with almost no knowledge. I wouldn't even let them change my oil. At least here in S.Fl. I don't usually bad mouth a business. I mean no disrespect to anyone on this forum if they work for that Corp.
