Check Engine Light On + "D" (Drive indicator) flashing

I have an 05 with AT, no nav, and 39k miles. The strangest thing just happened.

The check engine light comes on at startup. Then after driving 50 yards or so, the green "D" indicator lamp (for Drive) starts flashing. In addition, manual transmission mode no longer works. When I flip the shift lever over to manual mode, the current gear does not light up on the dash, and the car remains in automatic mode.

Has anyone experienced this before? The troubleshooting section in the owner's manual doesn't even mention a flashing Drive indicator.

you really need to know the DTC code, otherwise there are multiple issues it could possibly be. just goto the dealer

Yes, I dropping it off at the dealer in an hour!

Has anyone ever seen this before? It seems really strange.

I forgot to mention that I need an oil change. Could that have anything to do with it?

it's normal for that to happen when there is something up with the tranny, it can be either mechanical or electrical. also it has nothing to do with the need for an oil change

Thanks rbf351.

Here's a dumb question. Is it recemmended I always take the car to the service center of the dealer where I bought it? I ask because I wasn't impressed with the attitude of the people at my dealer's service center the last time I brought it in, and I'd prefer to deal with someone else.

As it's still under warranty, I know I can go to any authorized service center. However, are there any disadvantages to straying from your dealer?

My 03 Auto 4 banger Accord did the same thing, its probably the tranny. Flashing "D" with check engine light, dealer fixed my car and told me something about loose particals in the trans. They will take care of you, good luck.

Flashing D light means that there is a malifunction with the Transmission. take it to the dealer and report back to us.

yeah flashing D is tranny issue or maybe engine issue. It goes into limp mode and only allows automatic operation with certain gears I heard.

If yo know what the daytona auto mall is, i got kicked out from gary yeomans ford because I yelled at the Head service advisor becaus ehe said my 2 week old rotors needed to be turned and also that i needed new brake pads when i changed them myself about 2 weeks ago along with the rotors. On top of that, he had the nerve to show the prices after i told him that i had new rotors put on there two weeks ago.
