Cel p0443
Here's my story:
Bought the car about a year ago. Ever since I've had the car I've had the "Check Fuel Cap" warning light come on about twice a month. Didn't think much of it because it would go away after a while. Well, on 2/14/14 the CEL came on with code P0443. Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction. I took off the negative battery cable for about 15 minutes and then reset the code via the Navi. I drove to work and the CEL came back on. I've read that with the "Check Fuel Cap" issue it's the purge control valve, with Bruce also confirming it. So I ordered the valve and should have it next week. Hopefully this helps. BTW, the CEL came on both times after driving for about 15-20 minutes.
BUT, here's the twist. Today we went to the beach with the family. (Gotta love Cali weather, beach time during the winter). Anyways, while I was parking this couple needed a battery jump. I said sure, and gave them the jump. I come back into the car and the CEL is off. The CEL was on all the way to the beach because I checked it every 2 minutes, it bugged me that it was on. I said, ok, maybe it tripped with the jump, but I'm sure it's going to come back again when going home, about a 25 mile trip. Nope, no more CEL. I plan on disconnecting the negative cable again to reset everything. My question: What could've caused the CEL to turn off and not come back on?

CEL's come and go.
for example, if the car thinks its running excessively lean, it'll throw a code. once, the computer balances the Air/fuel ratio back out, the check engine light goes away.
in your case, the code is for an EVAP Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction.
it could have momentarily regained circuitry from the battery boost.
(i'm grasping at straws here)
I did a little searching around, butt couldnt find a clear answer.
hopefully, the replacement valve fixes the problem.

yea its gonna be your purge valve has an intermitting fault and what turned it off is that when the evap system ran its self test function when you started your car up to go to the beach and it passed at that time...in order for the ECU to turn the CEL off on its own the vehicle must complete a "drive cycle"(start up - drive it/warm up to operating temp - park it/turn car off/cool down to cold is a complete drive cycle) and if the ECU detect no faults in any of the emissions related systems the CEL will turn off

Funny thing is the CEL came back on yesterday while driving to dinner. After driving about 20 minutes the light came back on. Can't wait to get the purge valve to get this done and over with. Just in case, what else could it be?

I looked around as well, no clear answer. Oh well, I guess in the end it needs to be changed anyways. I'll post back in case anyone ever has this problem

Quick update, today I got code P145C: Manufacturer control auxiliary emissions control, after driving for about 15 minutes. It was mostly street. I'm just waiting for the purge valve to replace it and clear the codes.

Quick update on this: installed the purge valve today, ran the car for about 10 minutes with no CEL. I took off the negative cable, installed it, put the neg cable on. When I turned the car on I cleared the codes and waited, nothing. I will try to update this, but if you don't see anything else the CEL hasn't came back and it's all good.

I said I would update this, just in case anyone ever had this problem. I hate seeing problems on forums and people don't update whether their problem was fixed or not. Anyways, I took a trip from LA to Vegas and back, around 600 miles round trip. And of course driving around the city, so far no CEL. Everything seems good. I was worried it would be something else, but I'm glad this was fixed.

Bumping because I'm having a similar problem. CEL pisses me off big time. ![Rant](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rant.gif)

Quick update for those that need to figure this out in the future. After extensive research, I narrowed it down to this 36162-RDV-J01 VALVE, PURGE CONTROL SOLENOID from dchautomotive for $84.
Really easy to swap out.
1. Remove plastic covering the main engine exposing the valve cover. 4 small plastic fasners at the bottom of the cover need quarter twist and pops right off.
2. This part is mounted with 2 10mm bolts on right side of valve cover if you are standing facing the front of the car. 2 hoses clamp to the unit. unclamp hoses. unplug wire harness.
3. Install all in reverse. CEL went off by itself after 4 engine starts. From what i understand, 50 engine starts will reset the light automatically but I am confident I have not had that many starts since the code first showed up.
Hope this saves you a ton of headache and money. 10 minutes tops with a universal joint on a 10mm socket.

Well, as soon as I started to pursue this seriously, the CEL disappeared and has not come back...hopefully it stays that way.
