I have an '07 TL Type-S. I'm getting codes: P0300, P0301, P0304, P0306. Any ideas what's causing this?

TIA.

P0300 is a "Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected" code.
P0301 is cylinder 1
P0304 is #4
P0306 is #6

looks like you possibly got a bad batch of gas there bro. burn off the fuel and refuel with some higher octane fuel asap and see what happens.

That's the thing, I just filled up on 91 octane Chevron fuel. I've never had this happen before...

could just be a bad batch. it did rain hard a few days ago. mustve been some water in the fuel.

try my suggestion and maybe add a bottle or two of those STP gas additives that remove water from the fuel. its in an orange bottle, forgot the name though.

i can pull and clear the codes for you. ill bring my reader/puller tomorrow.

Hey Six,

I appreciate it! All is back to normal after 2 bottles of STP complete fuel system cleaner, 2 bottles of STP gas treatment, 1 bottle of STP super concentrated fuel injector cleaner, and 1 bottle of NOS octane booster. I also filled my gas tank up with 7 gallons of 100 octane racing fuel @ $7.99/gallon ($94 total spent).

But, the biggest part was you zeroing the codes out for me! That saved me $60-$80 which I would have probably had to pay to the stealership.

Thanks!

why would you have to pay 60-80 bucks...if your car out of warranty....

The car definitely runs quieter. I'm going to enjoy this next tank of gas, as I won't be putting in any additives, or 100 octane gas anytime soon.

you still pay the diagnostic fee if they eventually find out that the problem isnt warranty related.

to prove something under warranty, you normally have to go through hoops and such. for a simple and common (at least for me) CEL like the P0300, it was easier to help troubleshoot the probable cause, implement known fixes, and clear the CEL code from the car's computer.

Got the P0304 code (MIL)

Just wanted to add further evidence that this thread was helpful for the P0304 code. I got the code on Thur May 22 2008. I was freaking out about it because I really wanted to take the TL-S on my Memorial Day road trip to NJ.

So, I read this thread and some others and hoped that it was simply a bad batch of gas. (My last full tank at this point was 93 octane from a no-name gas station in the sticks in Virginia. I rarely use anything other than name-brand stations, Exxon, Shell, Hess, etc. but I figured one tank would be no big deal. Boy was I wrong!)

I went to the auto parts store and put the following in my tank after filling up with a premium brand gas station:

2 bottles of STP complete fuel system cleaner
2 bottles of STP gas treatment
1 bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner
1 bottle of STP octane booster
(Very similar to princelybug's list, but not exact)

Then I cleared the check engine light with my Actron OBD II scanner and went on my road trip for Memorial Day Weekend.

It's been 2 weeks and over 600 miles and no return of the code. So, I think the issue is laid to rest now. I am kind of pissed about saving ~$5 from filling at a crap gas station and then wasting over $20 on fuel additives (never mind the hour or two wasted). Well, I'll never be putting anything but name-brand gas in my baby from now on.

Thanks to princelybug for providing a detailed list of the fuel additives you used. I don't know if that much stuff was overkill, but it did the trick. And it was a heck of a lot better than taking it in to the shop!

Bringing this back, as I had this issue for the second time.

First time took it in and they tried all kinds of things to figure it out and never really got to the root of it.

The second time they found some info related to this happening at high RPMs due to the tollerances being too strict in the ECM. They suggested I take it to the dealer for reprogramming. The CEL cleared after a couple of weeks and I never did take it into the dealer.

I'm pretty sure that both times this happened, I was above 7k RPM.

Here's the info they gave me:
