Car wont start usual suspects are innocent

My baby girl is going through it right now guys. For the last couple weeks iv noticed a hesitation when starting up like ill turn the key and it would start waiting a second or two to start. that slowly developed to only starting randomly leaving me semi stranded being that it takes numerous tries to get it working. Now to today where whatever was keeping my car going has given up. I figured it would be either my battery or starter and both checked ok when tested at autozone.

That being said i still tried a new starter to no avail the only signals im getting when I go to start the car is all my lights coming on (dimming when turning the key) and that click that you usually hear no crank whatsoever. I've also tried putting it in neutral to start which has saved me numerous times to no avail as well the only difference between starting while in park and while in neutral is that during neutral the click sound is louder. So here I am asking you guys what do you think it is have any of you experienced this kind of issue with any vehicles in the past? 05 is the year

If battery and starter are both good, it's either a cable, connection or the ignition switch. Ignition switch is an easy 20-minute job, ~$45 for the part.

Have you tried replacing the + battery cable? At this age it might be corroded internally to the point where it can't effectively conduct enough juice. I had a similar problem last year and that's what it turned out to be, not the battery nor the starter.

Tosart, use a multimeter to check voltage at battery, directly on the terminals, then check voltage with probes on cable ends, then check voltage
at starter.

^^^^ I'm assuming that the battery is good per Autozone testing, but that may be a big assumption

Could also be the starter cut relay in the kick panel, but that's way on down the list....

Thanks for all the suggestions guys gonna get to work on it pretty soon,

DMZ- Is there a way I can check that without just flat out replacing it? do you remember the price you paid? or the part number at least.?

Is there a vid or diy for that? or is it like on any other car?

The ignition switch is not where the key goes, it's inside the steering column. You have to unscrew 2-4 screws and remove the plastic covers to gain access to the switch. I think 1 or 2 screws and unplug the cable to remove the switch itself.

That's true, but if you start with @ 12.4 at battery terminals, then check the probes on the cable ends, then at the starter and ground, should see the same results. If same look elsewhere, but if various readings, the bat/starter circuit.
I would also believe that with the "click", the starter/solenoid isn't seeing enough voltage, or bad connections within the solenoid.

It isnt my ignition switch, what are the chances of it being my safety neutral switch?

I would replace it for the 45bucks that the price costs. It could be the connector inside causing the no start condition

Yeah I did ordered a new cable cord yesterday morning as well hopefully delray acura gets my order in soon to pick it up. Is it possible that My safety neutral switch could've caused this? i have in the past have to switch my car to neutral more than a few times in the past.

Also I tested voltage on my relay and got nothing switched it with other relays which all had no voltage when using my centech. After finding the positive and negative inlet plugs on the relay i tried starting my car with a paper clip like in this video and nothing happen. :???

Just to wrap this up for anyone who has this issue in the future after replacing my (+)cable my car still wasn't starting. I ended up takingmy starter off again took it to advanced auto parts where it passed they're test. When me and my father went we told the guy that the starter only works when we hit it hard (which was a lie it doesn't start at all) so he gave me a new one under my warranty tried that one and my cars been good to go since. Thanks for all the help Acurazine family

What a PITA!! Glad you got it fixed. Yeah, the track record for starters from some of the auto parts stores is not great...
