my car wont lock with the key fob or the lock button on the door ?? i have to use the key

the unlock option on the key fob works and the unlock button on the door but i cant get the car to lock without the key

could this be a fuse issue? why would the car unlock but not lock ????

 

When you use the key, are all the locks locking? or just the driver side?

It seemed like a fuse issue, but then you said its locking with the key

Does the security Indicator light up when you lock with key? Also, what year?

I would check fuses 6, 21, 27 under the dash

 

If door lock actuator? Possiblly on drivers side?. I bought extra one at the dealer 3rd Gen. TL but never used it $28 shipped.

all the locks lock when i use the key .. im thinking its the switch ?? but why would the unlock work ? and i dunno about the security indicator i'll have to check that

 

does it lock with the passenger switch?

 

Then its most likely Drivers Side door switch, as that is what controls the Lock/Unlock function when transmitted through keyless entry system

 

see thats what i thought but the passenger side door lock doesnt work either?!

 

now the key doesnt lock all the doors like it was doing... I have to physically walk around the car and lock all the doors , which is rather annoying because they all unlock at once , just not lock ..

my parts guy is sayin door lock actuator like you guys .. so im gunna give it a whirl


is it hard to replace or should i have them install it for 90 bucks ???

 

Shietttt hell yeah $90.00 is good if thats including the parts? Dealer will charge you >$200 and part is only $40.00 lol

check the interior fuse box, can't remember the number exactly but it is for the interior lights. for whatever reason before when I was changing my interior lights I accidentally blew the fuse and for some reason my keyless entry wouldn't work properly. replaced the fuse and it worked fine. not sure if that matches your situation exactly but wouldn't hurt to check it.

looks like a fairly common thing with the TL .. doing research it seems alot of the older 3 gens are havin this problem ...

yup sounds very similar to my problem.

driver side door lock will not lock or unlock with the remote. only the key. if i sit in the car and hit my door lock to lock the doors all of them lock except the drivers side. i have to manually push it down. same as when unlocking.

it started out several months ago in order to lock the doors with the remote i might have to push lock a few times and they would lock. then slowly i could not lock the doors with the remote and now i cannot lock the doors with the remote. at first i thought battery was going in the remote. well i can open the trunk just fine with it and from a god distance too.

i am really not sure what could be the problem since my interior lights come on which tells me it is not the fuse.

anyone have any good thoughts on this?

 

just replaced the drives door lock actuator .. fixed the problem , i guess thats the main unit that controls the rest , all doors lock with the lock button and the remote again !

all for 118 bucks installed .. not to shabby

I don't know if this suggestion fits, but just covering all bases... resetting Keyless Remote Setting on your car & switchblade remote?

There should be instructions within your manual about "keyless memory settings" and should show you how to reset or set different lock/unlock with your remote.

I can't recall the page, but it is in there.

 

after more research i think its the MICU ( Multiplex Intergrated Control Unit ) , which is an expensive part i'm gunna have my buddy take it in to the dealer again and see whats goin on

I have the same problem. Is the Micu the same thing as the Fuse Box assembly. Have you gotten your problem fixed?

 

wow i havent been on here in a while ... sooo my locks started to not work again

an update to the initial post .. i did end up replacing the MICU and that fixed everything ..

should that thing have lasted more than 4 years?? I will trouble shoot this weekend some more but its the same exact symptoms funny cause i completly forgot about this thread and that i already had this problem

Hi all, still luv'n my 06 TL, 10 yrs and 60k miles (100k kms), only prob up until today was the power steering high pressure hose went last summer and the infamous rusty TL side mirrors.... BUT now my doors do not lock with either the remote key fob or key in driver door or the manual switches on both front doors. Oddly, I find, the fob and manual switches work to unlock the car, but not lock the doors. Also when i lift the driver door lock thingie, all 4 doors unlock, but pushing it down does nothing except manually lock the driver door. I have checked the fuse, it is good.

What do you think is the problem? A loose or corroded wire? A control unit?

 

 

btw, I ended up bringing my car to the dealer and they tested the components including checking for interference from the remote car starter and found the problem to be the MICU (Multiplex Intergrated Control Unit) and were able to find a used one for me and I had it installed and it has worked fine ever since. They have offered to buy my 06TL several times, I have low mileage 120,000 kilometres / 75,000 miles and it's now 12y3m old. I still enjoy this car. Had it re-rust-proofed privately 2 years ago. Dealer says the newer version doesn't have the same quality parts, who knows, I am not a mechanic lol.

 

Hello all, I searched several different forums regarding this type of issue, this thread is the only one with some good content regarding TL door lock issues. So if there is a better thread to reference on this forum, please let me know.
Regarding door lock issues, I haven't read this issue that I'm currently dealing with. Basically all 4 doors lock and unlock automatically non-stop! As if a ghost is constantly pressing the lock and unlock button non-stop. I had to disconnect the positive battery cable to take power away.
