Car vibrate at red light......?

05 TL 68K miles, AT.
At stop sign/red light, the car vibrate and notice it is idle at around 800RPM. Given that the AC is on and still in gear. I did some research and some say it is normal, but I don't think that is right.
I also have 99TL 110K miles. The car idle around 750RPM and NO vibration at all, very quiet.

btw, all run full synthetic and Premium gas.
Does your car vibrate as above?
thanks.

Your motor mounts probably need to be replaced, its an all too common on our third gens.

Ya know, I have an 05TL, AT with 68000 miles on it and experience the same exact thing. Only when the A/C compressor is engaged does my car vibrate.. when the compressor cycles off, the vibration goes away. Maybe my idle speed is a bit off. Has anyone had to adjust your idle RPM yet??

I have an '05 also with 44k on it, I've noticed the same thing. I just had my dealer check it out since my warranty expires this month. They basically said the same thing, it's "normal", however it wasn't like this at the begining.

I am not happy with its vibrate at idle at all. it is little annoying. I am thinking of Seafoam it, but afraid it may damage O2 sensor.

Too many people report that vibrate issue, but dealer said "normal".....I don't think it is normal. If anyone fixed this issue please let us know. I don't think it is the engine mount. I am thinking of lower the idle RPM a bit should help, but not sure how to do it.

Mine does it as well with the a/c on at idle you can feel the a/c cycle. My dealer said it was normal also. Same thing in every loaner TL I have had.

the innovative ones are firmer and thus you feel more. The stock ones should only allow vibration when the car is cold. Otherwise either your mounts are shot or they are binding and need to be neutralized.

I have the same experience as the member you replied to. I am a bit surprised that the idle is not as smooth as the 06 Mazda3 I traded my TL in for. Mine is CPO (34K miles), so I would have thought they checked for stuff like the mounts, but maybe I'll have them check it out if I have some free time. What do you mean by neutralizing mounts?

Any one know how to lower idle RPM?
My 99TL I checked this morning and it idles at 700RPM (not 750RPM as I posted before) while the 05TL is at around 800RPM.

Why would you want to lower your idle RPM? If your RPM's are too low it will lug and stall. Your theory of high idle RPM = Vibration is wrong unless you are having misfires then the engine would run noticeably rough at idle. Check your engine mounts, clean your fuel injectors, you might even want to change your plugs at those miles although probably not an issue. Your symptoms definitely sound like your motor mounts, have the shop take a look at your rear mount especially. Try shifting your car into neutral and let us know if the vibration changes.

About lower RPM, I am not sure it helps or not, but want to bring back to around 700RPM like my 99 TL to see how it handle.
I will try to seafoam it tonight to see it it helps.
Currently, when I shift to Neutral, it is not vibrate.

Although your 99 may have a 3.2 engine, I believe the compression ratio is around 10:1 where the 3G Tl is 11:1.. Then we get to the differences in the ECU control over idle, which should definitely be different. So you can't compare the two. Seafoam treatment is good.. but you have a bad motor mount.. I believe the rear mount is the major culprit for idle vibration but the side and front mount need inspection as well.

2G type-s CR is 10.5 : 1

Hey Guys,

Same problem here with idle vibration on my 06TL with 49k. I've been to two dealers, one of them checked the mounts, said everything is normal, the other one I think didn't even check the mounts and also said its normal. My vibration issues completely go away when I shift into neutral. Also, the weird thing about this vibration is that some days you feel it a lot and other days you nearly don't feel it. I've given up on it.

thanks for the compression Majofo.

After seafoam treatment for intake and gas tank, the car still same shiiit. still rough idle. I noticed that when the car in Park position, no gear, no AC, it runs very smooth at around 800-850 rpm, but when I put it to gear, its idle dropped to about 750 -800rpm (it dropped a bit, but the revolution is not exact due to tachometer not show in details). when it in gear, the idle rough a bit and when I run AC, the idle get even worst.

you need motor mounts man. the reason why it vibrates when you're in gear is because now the motor has load on it.

and lower rpm's is a no no. It's gonna vibrate even more with lower rpms as stated previously

Ok, I have this SAME exact issue too, and quite frankly, my 07 TL-Base is only 15K miles and the vibration is almost as my old 95 Honda Accord @ 120K miles.

Here is a little chart I've composed to help us out a little into determining our problems...

If the car is in Park and no A/C, should be smooth. - Normal
If the car is in Park and A/C, Idle should be just a tad bit rougher. - Normal
If the car is in Gear, and A/C is off, Idle should still be smooth. (If it is isn't its your rear engine mount or your engine damper has taken a $hit)

Now, here it is... if the car is in Gear, A/C on, and your idle is rough?... "Tough luck" - General Manager of Rick Case Acura @ 441 & Sunrise, FL.

Sorry folks, I've tried to explain my situation and the best I got was ''why didn't I purchase a Lexus for a more luxurious ride?"

Sucks.

lol.. very true on the Lexus input.. I think some Lexus motors have anywhere from 4-8 damping points.

i have 04 tl AT and got my trani replaced and when i was stopping at the light with the trani in drive, there was a terrible vibration. So some folks from azine sugested to check the vacuum lines (all the mechanics said that it's normal this terrible vibration though). So next time i went for oil change i told them to check the vacuum lines and guess what, ONE WAS UNPLUGGED. THIS REDUCED THE VIBRATION CONSIDERABLY, THERE STILL VIBRATION THOUGH SINCE THIS IS A LUXURY PERFORMANCE VEHICLE NOT A THROUGH LUXURY!!!
