Exclamation car starts itself in the ON position

when i switch my car to ON the car will start itself as if i turned the key all the way and started it normally. this only happens sometimes and the check starting system light will turn on. the CEL has just turned on and i have no idea whats going on

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ighlight=u0107

this is the closest thread i could find on the subject. my car stalled today when backing out of my driveway as well. can anyone confirm its a bad battery? this happend last week too but the CEL turned itself off and the dealer said it was fine.. please help

This should be posted in the "Problems" forum instead of here....

Did you get the codes read this time? There is a reason you're getting the CEL and the codes help tell the story....

Honestly, sounds like you have multiple problems that need to be addressed by a dealer. Time for another trip to the dealer:

I know I think all the problems are from the same source though. my car is normal now there's no cel or starting problems.. the dealer wouldnt help me unless the cel is on last time i brought it in. my car is going crazy I swear

Id go with ignition switch. There is no way your car should start in the on position. The on should be a systems check and allow you to roll your windows up and down.

Time to get tough with the service manager. Just because the CEL is not on, doesn't mean that there's no code stored. Demand that they check your car for codes after this last incident.

Can you duplicate the ignition switch problem for the dealer?

Usually ignition switch will NOT throw a CEL. It could just be worn out or something internal failed. It happens over time.

Exactly. The ECU will only catch high level issues. Nothing like an ignition switch shorting.

Thread revival because my car just started doing this last night
After driving for about 50 feet car stuttered and every single light on the dash flashed on and off and car shut off.
Even after I pulled the key out it tried to crank so I had to haul ass back to my place and get 10mm and undo a very hot ground cable from the battery.

This morning, at least car is okay in OFF and ACC (radio working) but still tries to crank itself to death in or past ON whether I turn all the way to START.

Got the glove box removed and have a fan blowing behind the radio so we'll see...........
