Car shake when i brake

Today on my way to work i notice my car acting weird when i put pressure on my break. then on a high way i was doing avg speed 60-65mph. A car in front of me slow down so i apply brake to my car then my whole car shake very bad in clude the steering wheel, but the car drive smooth steering turn fine only when i apply the brake the car shoke. After i read few post in here come to the brake roto is most cuase of this event. any advice what ealse to look for.
if the rotor the #1 cuase, what should i replace it with? oem or drill sloted rotor? or any good rotor out there that you guys common used.

i have the 04 TL base.

thanks

I would say its the Rotors, If ur Rotors haven't been turned before, you can have them shaved and that will make it like new, that will be less expensive then buying new ones, but still pretty pricey at a dealership, If you have a small shop / Buddy you could save money, had all four of mine done for $80 and was included with the labor for new pads. As far as new ones, some other members may have better advice, Aftermarket are just as good as factory, of course there are some performance ones some other members might chime in with here ...

Does this happen in slow speeds? mid-high speeds?

Have someone check your Runout, spec is .004 inches.
Check the thickness as well and see if there is enough rotor left to cut.

Me, I'd get new OEM or Slotted Rotors.

at about 30-40mph the steering wheels vibrate and feel a little bit of car shake.
at abut 60 the car take long to slow down then if i lightly apply the brake then if put more pressure the whole car shake.

Sounds like warped rotors to me.

Do you have to push the pedal more than once just to get them to grab?

No. it grab perfectly. after the fact i learned that if i apply my brake slowly and give it more time to slow down its ok. but if in an instance brake it would shake.

i purchase a new rotor already. my thought was if i would of get them turn it will get thinner and the problem would come back in the future. stealer ship quote me $145 a piece for new rotor. so i went to pep boys autos store get it for 59.99 a piece ( pro stop brand non slotted). half price off for me. now i'm just waiting for my brother in law bring me my compressor back to me.

the rotors are warped most likely but i would also make sure your wheels are properly balanced.
