Car rattles when started after engine cold.
Hey guys I have noticed that when i first start the car and the engine is cold (5-6 hours off). It tends to rev just a bit above 1000rpm, at this point it tends to jerk a bit while in park. Once the car has warmed up all is fine. I was just wondering if this was normal. I forgot to mention that i live in Montreal, Canada tends to get pretty damn cold over night, but i park in a garage at work and i noticed it does it there as well.
P.S the jerks are not violent but can get annoying
Thanks

the car cant jerk in park. r u talkin about virbrations? then the belt tensioner is no good or pulleys they have to be checked.... what year is the car how many miles? i just had the pulleys belts pump n all that good stuff done and the car has no vibration what so ever. the tech told me a lot of 04-05 had a lot of timing belt tensioner problems that also makes a clicking noise that kinda makes u think its the valves knocking.

like tripnbeat said, the car should not jerk while in park.
My 08TLS when cold sounds like a washer and dryer rumble, but once the rpms drop below 1K, it's nice and quiet.

yea id have the belts n tensioner looked at 90% of the time they'll hve to replace it under warranty this was a big problem and probably still continues to be a problem..... but after a certain amount of miles I would think honda would want u to pay for some of it.

yup it'll do it.... the idle belt tensioner could be bad as well, the drive belt pulleys for that too, there a million possibilities a bad motor or transmission mount. a full engine bay check up is needed by acura for sure.

Mine has random misfires that make vibrations when it's cold and only when the rpms are above 1,000. It's probably due to the car running very rich to light off the cats. It's done it since new and I'm not worried. The exhaust will be slightly louder up by the convertors.

Id expect random misfires at cold start. the oil hasnt touched any component on the inside for hours..... but im assuming once its warmed up its good to go with no probs?
