can't get the dang oil drain bolt off!!!

well, i was rotating my tires and attempting to remove the oil drain bolt. stuck a 17mm socket wrench into it and it kept slipping and started to strip the threads on the bolt a little so i stopped. my friend suggested we use a fixed head 17mm wrench cus the grooves to grip the bolt wouldn't be as deep and let the grip on the bolt head slip. it's probably overtorqued cus the last time the oil was changed it was at the dealer. what do you use to remove this dang thing?

also, juuuust want to double check lol...if we're on the right side of the car with the 17mm wrench, we pull towards the right to turn the bolt counterclockwise to take it off?

Counterclockwise is off. You might have to take it back to the dealer to get the drain plug loose. You could try a 6 point box wrench and see if it works better, or a large vise-grips and hit it with a hammer or a piece of pipe.

But your best bet is to take it back and let them do it because they might have stripped the threads and if they did then it's their fault.

Try Ron's idea or a 6 point socket on a breaker bar and you should be good to go!

i usually need another tool to tap on the handle of the wrench & loosen the bolt(crack it)
With my last TL, the dealership tried to rip me off $800 for 4 stripped rings in the drain pan. i made them fix it with a longer bolt. .65cents
