Can we do our own software updates without the dealership?
I been getting CEL's apparently from 3 things: failing O2 sensor, bad gas or an outdated software on our vehicles.
Did some research online and acura DID acknowledge my P0174 CEL error and released a software update, and since I only purchased my vehicle about 2 months ago I really can't tell what software version I have?
If i buy the Honda tool myself can i install the update?

You stated you installed high flow precats fairly recently within the past week. I'm pretty sure it's related to your install.
Check the wires of the o2.
I had similar codes when I installed my Pre-cat deletes. The check engine light didn't come on until about 4 days after I installed it. I messed with the o2 sensor wires a bit and it eventually went away. Its been over 2 years now and still no check engine light.

Kinda sounds like "bs" but hey it might be true, i mean i have 4 sensors so why only 1 giving me trouble and not all 4 if its true lol? He assured me a new sensor would cost me more then $150 (more then i anticipated) guess i'll just go with an aftermarket one then

Well i just called my nearest Acura dealership and i told them about the code and mentioned i replaced my cats, he assured me everytime THEY replace the cats they also replace the O2 sensors, because the used sensors might have a "gap" left out from the previous cat?

And yes the o2 sensor is worth around $150. Here's the parts

Is there an answer to the original question (title of the thread) about the software update?
I ask because I know my software hasn't been updated during the entire length of my ownership of my TL. And it's not something I would want to pay top dollar to do if there's an easier way.
