A/C Not Working

I just noticed this today. My windows fogged up and when I turn on the defroster or switch it to 'Auto' mode My A/C compressor doesn't cycle nor does the external fan come on. I felt the pipe running from the compressor and it's warm to touch. It acts almost as though I've never turned the system on. Any Ideas what this can be?

I just had new suspension put on Saturday and before that my a/c system was fine. Any chance they could have left something unplugged? I just don't want to get hosed at a dealership.

Does it blow cold when you just start the car up?

Nope, I can set the temp to the lowest setting and it blows ambient air.
I don't even hear the on/off cycling from the compressor. A quick examination under the hood reveal the A/C system not even on. The coils or whatever is inside remain motionless.

I had an AC issue a while back and the clutch and coil in the compressor had to be changed. Could be either that or your compressor is out.

I think around $400. I had taken it to several independent shops before and nobody could figure it out. Had no choice but to take it to the dealer. There are several DIY's on here that are very simple but I didn't want to risk buying parts and not knowing exactly what the issue was. It would be great if you can find a shop that can check the parts I mentioned before running to the dealer.

Thank you, I hope this is not the cause maybe just low on fluid since I never had a recharge in 218,000 miles. I'm just not ready to drop money like this after paying for lowering springs installed.

Update:

That night I went to Autozone and picked up a bottle of freon with the gauge. I let the car idle with a/c on and started the filling process, after a 5 min the a/c compressor switched on by itself and voila! Ice old a/c in interior of car. It's been running fine since. I noticed my high pressure cap was lose, I'm wondering if tire discounters screwed with something when they installed my lowering springs.
