Hey guys! Back again lol. This 2007 TL, particularly on super hot and humid days, will leak water onto the passenger side floor. I had an import guy work on it all day yesterday. Camera up the tube, blow out the tub right there, no luck. I've included some pics if that helps. It's been doing it since I got it two years ago, no issues so far but I'd hate to fry my PCM over it. Not sure what to do, if anything, since I"m sure that whatever fix is involved will likely necessitate ripping out the whole dash.
Usually my mats aren't this dirty, made the mistake of having a passenger Usually my mats aren't this dirty, made the mistake of having a passenger Usually my mats aren't this dirty, made the mistake of having a passenger Usually my mats aren't this dirty, made the mistake of having a passenger
I believe you can check that drain tube without ripping the dash out. Try removing center console first, and see where the clog (if there is, and it seems there is) is at first. I’m not positive, but it would be where I’d start. But maybe someone who has had the problem or knows more will chime in.
Thanks! I actually read that thread and all the others I could find on the subject on this forum. My mechanic blew out the line that is behind the passenger side carpeting. So, you mean to take out the radio and all that jazz and look behind there? I wonder if the sun roof drain tubes being clogged might be messing it up? Kind of like if you have the stink stack clogged in a house the toilet will gurgle... Is there any issue with just letting it leak? I know it COULD fry the PCM but if it's just small amounts of water I can't see it ruining that but I'm not sure lol.
I have yet to remove my center console (cup holders and cubby hole behind them, and around shifter),but I would do that first. From what I’ve seen, you’ll not have to remove stereo and such, but don’t quote me on that. Yes it could fry the PCM. Have you ever had windshield replaced? If your a/c is draining, then it very well could be a leaf stuck in the drain tube for sunroof. Other than those two ideas, I’m not sure.
The wind shield was replaced by the previous owner. They did a shit job too. Wrong clip for the mirror to hang off of (I had to use glass glue to get it to stay put, and a Taco Bell gift card to make sure the mirror doesn't wiggle), shit job on the seals. The mechanic I went to said he'd need more time to rip shit apart and figure out what is it. It also doesn't leak into the car when the car is idling in park. Soon as I get into drive and get moving it will start to leak into the car. At park or in motion there is a TON of water flowing out of where it's supposed to right under the passenger side wheel well so it's like wtf. I also see how the PCM/ECU gets fried by this by where it sits. Hopefully I can get this figured out for less than $1,000 lmfao.
best thing to do is remove the wipers and the cowl and start checking the bottom of windshield and areas for leaks. Also would check the firewall for any missing grommets. Here's a pic of the drain line:
Thank you for the diagram! Unfortunately, the leak is not connected with rain. I can trigger it, as long as it's hot and humid enough, by having the AC on with the amount of drop into the being directly correlated to how cold I have the AC set. So, I'm wondering if while installing the windshield they clogged another drain line? Though, I see on the diagram that there's only one drain line. That would indicate to me that something ahead of the drain line on my car is cracked or something. I will keep you guys updated. Idk why I always get the TL's with the strange and hard to figure out problems lmfao. Maybe my Evaporator Core is cracked or the hoses aren't properly connected or something? What's the ticket on replacing that? $1000? Is there anything else I should have done while the dash is ripped apart?
After this weekends road trip I'll be doing just that. Hopefully I don't get pwned on this repair. I'm at 223k miles right now and have skipped on my timing belt (had belt looked at and mechanics said it looked fine). I'd laugh if I need $1,000 in AC work and the MID tells me to change the timing belt too lmfao. At least 07 to 08 TL's are literally perfect so it'll be worth it lol.
I'm going to put a bag around it right now lmfao. How is replacing the PC a $1,000 anyway? Couldn't you just take the new PCM, glue it on top of the old and and just plug it instead of ripping out the whole dash?
On second thought, I'm gonna leave it alone. With my luck, there's a leak I don't know is there and the plastic bad will channel water into the ECU/PCM and mess it up, just watch lmfao.

That could be the problem.
Here's one for $75. The heater core case assembly, at the drain, looks to be held together buy some kind of fasteners (second picture). You could be leaking from there. Might not be able to quite find the leak without removal of the assembly for examination.
