Howdy!
My 2005 Acura TL needs a new a/c compressor and a/c drier(as per this mechanic I took my car to - who put freon in the car but didn't see the pressure he was looking for, checked the circuits as well - I am not knowledgeable about what to check for).
The ACURA estore(http://owners.acura.com/Parts/MaintenanceParts.aspxz) sells it for $607. Rockauto.com (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php)
sells (new) compressors for the 2005 TL from different manufacturers :
Spectra Premium $272.89
Four Seasons $344.79
Denso $354.79
Rockauto has a a/c receiver drier/accumulator from Four Seasons for $16.88 and one from Spectra Premium for $17.96 - couldn't locate a drier at the Acura estore.
I am looking for a reliable product and not wanting to spend more money than I need to - now and in the long run(plan to own the car another 5 years at the least).
Please recommend an a/c compressor (out of the above or any other - please refer to the weblink for more details) and an a/c drier.
All advice is highly appreciated.

What problems were you experiencing? If he added refrigerant to the system, I assume it was low, am I correct? Only way it could be low is if the system had a leak, as it is a sealed system.
Compressors are pretty sturdy, so what makes him believe that it needs a new compressor? Evacuate the system add 134 by weight 1.1/1.2 lbs. and go from there. The pressure switch will cause the compressor to disengage if the system has too high a charge, or conversely too low.
I'd certainly be cautious before replacement of the parts that have been recommended.
